Dang it is cold here! Broke water at the ag farm for all the kids...it was thick! Curious how my birds are?

Why in the world would seeing a woman in the store without shoes freak you out, heck woman this is Oklahoma that is the style, I bet she had a chicken leg in her pocket, when I first moved here I thought I was weird cause I kept my fingernails clean & no Tobacco spit on my shirt LOL LOL.

Try to stay out of trouble girl, tell Mike I said Hey.

Thanks. I am a huge history buff, especially American history and Marine Corps history. In fact, I minored in history at OU. As a result, I study a lot about wars and the men who fought them, and the speeches they made. When I see a quote that strikes a chord, I write it down for future reference and inspiration. Like you said, you gotta love those rough men.

As for Mike's boss, just remind him that he too has a boss who probably says the same things about him.

Semper Fi,

Shawnee - yes there will be pigeons for sale...they want to limit it to those showing but...I begged my way into a sale coop for $15...those showing are paying $10...I will have a few indian fantails, some mismarked lahores, maybe some show rollers and flights...not for sure...plan on lots of birds in the parking lot! Start talking and the next thing you know some guy will say, "Hey...I got some thing in my truck."

As for certification...they didn't say nothing to me...but figure they will be for the most part

Hey Stimpster
I love war history. My dad was in the army air corps in WWII. The Eighth Air Force. I read a book about it called "A wing and a prayer". Made feel a little closer to him since he really never talked about that time in his life. Once in a while he would share something that would rock our warm, fuzzy, little world... but mostly nothing. Read up on Vietnam though... Have you read "Kiss The Boys Goodbye"? That was a harsh one and I gave up on the political end of it after that. David Halberstam was it? was really sick for awhile in the late 80s and early 90s. Spent most of my time stuck at home so I wrote letters to anyone and everyone about the POWs and medical benefits for Agent Orange and PTSD. Wasn't much help... but I felt better. We left so many guys behind there and then here when they came home. My brother was in the 82nd Airborne and missed going by only a year or so. I was really close to him, so it always seemed to me it coulda been him ... But y'all were somebody's brother or son etc.

I survived the dinner without being arrested... (dang it! It seemed like such a great mid-life crisisy thing to do... dork the old man's boss and then go to the Big House) He actually complemented me on my yams. (I have this great pecan praline yam recipe). He's probably onto me. Mike cut a vein in his arm and his bicep really bad in the summer. This guy started talking smack about Mike in the ER and I went off. The HR guy for the city had to hold me off of him. Lol.

I ain't skeered of no Texan!

I found Purina Flock Blocks in town today!! PMSing hens think they are wonderful!! The guy said they only sell them in the fall with the deer blocks... I was like what the hell does one thing have to do with the other??? "Hey Hank, let's get us a couple deer blocks for our huntin' area so we can get us a big buck this year! Oh yeah and while we're here might as well get a flock block too... ya know just in case we miss and have to eat chicken instead."

Henny,
My grandfather was with the 6th Marines in WWI. My father died when I was very young and the man that was the closest thing to a father that I ever knew was wounded at Saipan. His son was like a brother to me and did 2 tours with the Marine Airwing in Nam and I did 1 as a grunt. My oldest son saw action in Bosnia.

Agent Orange and PTSD are still killing people. We're losing more than 250 VietNam vets a day, and that number climbs every month. Sadly, the very agency that was designed to help them, the Department of Veterans Affairs, is the biggest blockade between them and the benefits they earned. The VA has adapted the policy of "Deny 'Til They Die" and is just treading water, trying to save the government a few dollars. I guess the wall street bankers or the auto makers need it more than we do.

Sorry everyone, I didn't mean to get so political. It's just that last year we asked Congress for an extra $3B to fix the VA system and they acted like we'd gutshot one of their kids. The idiots on Wall Street go broke giving each other multi-million dollar bonuses and get $840B with no strings attached. It seems like the priorities are askew.

Ok, I'm off my soapbox. Thanks for letting me vent.

Semper Fi,

-Stimp-
