Be careful with the distance you order Serama eggs from. I ordered mine from Florida, came packaged perfectly, but not a one hatched. Just the Maran extras. Even the seller said she thought the distance had something to do with it, since they're so small.

I am reminded of a high school friend who would never sell her calf after the 4-H fair, because if someone was going to eat "Socks" she wanted it to be her family because she had loved the calf too much to have someone else eat him.

I only keep one breed of turkeys because they free range and I don't want to have to keep one breed penned up. That is why I sold my chocolate turkeys to Kathryn, even though I thought they were beautiful. I didn't like seeing them penned up while the Narragansetts were running free.

The sunshine seems to be deceiving today though. Thermometer says its in the 30's. I'm already freezing and I haven't gone outside! I'm about to finish bundling up and start my trek to class.

Everyone have a good day!

Where will you find Serama eggs? I saw some on BYC a few weeks ago when I was looking at the new auction system. Those are expensive bird eggs!

I plan to shut my incubator off as soon as the duck eggs I put in there yesterday hatch or don't hatch. Yeah, right

You should keep in mind if you plan getting seramas they lay heavier during Nov, Dec, and Jan. than any other months of the year. This is the time to buy started pullets and good cock birds. You wont be able to shut the incubators off.

Morning Okies its crisp and cool and frosty here this morning. Thought I would share a pic of my visitors this morning. There were 21 of them.

Can anyone say Thanksgiving!!!!

Howdy! Still raining over there? I guess we will be getting a nice rain on Thursday. And that's okay. My pond isn't quite full yet.

What does everyone do to entertain themselfs when stuck in the house. I have so far cleaned out the feed building (while raining) I have bought the supplies to make another gallon feeder......looking at PVC plans to build something to keep it dry......I guess I will start building cages next.....I can only use so many cages.

Must have had at least two dozen set this year.
Got out early and turned over another swath of my garden. I love the soil here. You can sink ashovel as far as you can and flip it over and never hit a rock! Sure not like Adair county,Ok. dirt-er rocks!Lol.
My golden neck D'occles are starting to look good. Only problem with these project birds is haveing to keep all the pullets and roos till spring before you can pick out your best keepers. I have culled down to about five roos (only five!LOL)
Everyone have a great day. Looks like more rain here. Guess I'll stay in and work on my quilts.
