I get home from the second job (which, btw, was murderous tonight... what is it about Wednesday nights and Sunday after 11am that just brings out the worst in people?), caught up on reading, and am now fixin' to go to bed.

Been so quiet lately... kinda freaking me out a bit!

Beth was just reading your post. It has been an arduous week...I have been bawling about Teach putting his old dog down...then his dad....then there is a lady who is about my age at Monday night Bible Study and she lost her husband in April. She never misses a study. She comes in and you can tell she has had a rough day....Monday night's study had some tender hearted marriage stuff in it...I could hear her behind me sniffling along. I made it home and just cried for an hour....I cried about it all....The warriors are getting tired and beat up some....

Then I had a chicken dream. I had all these teenager peeps...I was holding a contest, but what I was actually doing was looking for peeps to steal...There were bright orange and blue and purple and a cool kelly green one. One was marked like a tiger, black and orange....So I swiped all these peeps and they started to get sick. I was complaining that people did the same thing to me that they do at auctions...they bring stuff they are to weak to cull....so I'm trying to fix all these peeps my vet is being zero help....and I am running all over medicating and chopping heads...on all these psychedelic peeps....weird

I finally got the camera out to take pics of our new Silver Blue OEGB's

Good bright & early morning!

Did ya know that a rooster will crow WITHOUT any light at all? well now ya do. Sure glad he isn't staying in the house all the time. I like to sleep alittle longer.

Henny keep praying girl & call your friend from bible study. Maybe she needs someone to hang out with or maybe she would like to come see your chickens.

Les, I haven't found a chicken that I don't like yet and I am sure you are right if I had one I would end up liking it.

Al I didn't know they made a chipendale smiley for you guys.

Engie, pretty birds!!

I am off for a long day of cooking chilli, this will be my last year!

Engie,

Nice looking birds. I have a quad of BB Red OEGB's now but they are not even close to show quality, however, I just bought a pair of BB Red OEGB's from the Barnes bloodline that will produce nice birds & hope to raise some show birds out of them. They are an early 2009 hatch so the pullet should be of laying age when she gets here tomorrow.

I don't know if you saw the photos I posted a few days back, but I also have some BB Red Rosecomb chicks. 15 of them (1 didn't make it so far), here's a photo of the brood cock that produced them. He is not show quality either, however, he has been shown at the Claremore fair (not this year) and has won ribbons.

I'm going to be selling a bunch of bantams soon. I plan to take photos of them on Sunday/Monday and have them up for sale shortly thereafter.

Funny you should mention that. That is the reason they were devoloped but it just didn't catch on. 50% less feathering then other breeds and the skin is smoother once plucked then other birds. But from their ancestry as a game breed they are just a little slower to grow in most normal climates. Now you take a hot climate like Egypt or any place it gets really hot and they out perform all meat birds in both growth and feed conversion.

Due to their true dual purpose nature and their resistance to disease they are being used throughout South America as a sustainable income and food source for poor villages. There has probably been more research done on the NNs then any other breed of chicken. Now if you research them on the net be sure to put Naked Neck CHICKENS in the search or have your adult filter turned way up. If you just do a search for Naked Necks some of the things that come up will make your eyeballs pop out!!

Oh and Good Night every one!

That is very interesting to think that the NN could become the chicken of choice for more sustainable living in hot climates. Les, I always learn something new from you.
