OKIE: Those are Blue laced Red Wyandottes. Thanks for not using the pic but Jared was disapointed he didn't make it onto the computer screen. I told him he shouldn't have been acting so goofy.
I bought a pair of Black Sumatras, my 8 year old son bought two BB Red OEGB roos. I bought a box full of feeders and waterers for a dollar. I also bought a portable deerstand. I really wanted a blue slate hen turkey but they sold her with a tom that I didn't want. (The kind that don't breed)

County: I am sorry the calls went so high. Sorry you went home empty handed.

The kiddos both look so goofy in that picture.

I am psyched to be in a Chicken Family photo!

Glad Emma likes her new buddy Tiki. Monty, how're those 'surprise' Sumatras? I was a little bummed about coming home with an empty box, but Clark was glad. If I hadn't been talking so much, I wouldn't have missed the egg sales.

But I still had fun tonight, it was worth it!

Grace, I still found no blue Rocks.

BUT... I learned of an auction in Maude. The guy who runs it said his building seats 400, its every Thursday, and on average there's at least 600 head of poultry!!! He said the most he's had was 1800, last week 680. Its a ways from here, but I think I will definitely be going sometime. Okie and Buckguy, let me know if you guys ever wanna go.

Newb question, do they sell only chicks at these auctions? I ask because when I finally get a chance to build my coop and run (as soon as I'm employed again) it will likely be later in the spring and I don't want to start off so late with just chicks. I'd prefer some already several weeks old pullets.

And I've already changed my mind (thanks to these forums) on what breeds I want.

Krysstyl. first of all Welcome to BYC and the chicken crazy peeps here........... they sale all kinds.pullets, hens, roosters, anything you can think of at auctions and shows......... keep watch of this thread and all shows will be posted. I know Buckguy,Countrygirl and Gracefulbantams all have knowledge of when and where the shows are...... just ask..........
Where are you located?
You will change your mind a million times by the time you get chickens girl....

The first pic of Cammie and Kathleen is worthy of framing. Jared goofed up the other one.

Kryssty, There is a big auction east of Tulsa near Salina. It is called Chupps auction they have a website, Just google it?

Cammie the Sumatra are fine. jared wouldn't quit bugging me so we bought the two BB Red banty roos. They are old and have long spurs. One of them has spurs that turn up and are touching the back of his legs. I am going to trim them in a bit.
I have never been to the Maud auction. I have planned to go before but have chickened out.
I have heard good and bad things about it. I have heard that the chicken sales run late but I talked to the guy that runs it last night and he said it doesn't usually run that late.

Next week, Same time same place?

Oh, is the Harrah auction every Saturday? The Cement one is just the first Saturday of every month. Not sure I can afford the Harrah drive every week...

Sounds like you can consider those roos rescues, and its always ok to have rescues, so no guilt there. *haha*
