Well, I got a nice letter from the state ag department telling me my birds are AI free. Boy, was I happy to hear that!

Except I never had them tested for AI. In fact, I haven't had them tested for anything at all. I didn't even know the state was aware I had chickens.

Hello from flue central. The H1N1 has hit my family. Son,Aurora( the grand daughter that was with us at poop) and I have it.
Aurora's mom and the three month old are at her dad's. My son at his house and I got Aurora. Please pray for her because it got to her lungs. I had her back in the Dr today. Both lungs are crackling and she whasing. More medicine if not better tomorrow hospital.
I just got the headache, fever and chills not big deal. She sleep in my arms as I type.

OEAT tv crew is due here at 11 tomorrow to film my turkeys for a special on Heritage turkeys for Thanksgiving. I want to know if it alright to tell them about our group and how you all helped me learn about raising them? I also want to tell them I get my poults from Carla. If they OK to do? Just need to know by morning.

If you sold some birds at an auction recently, the state may have had someone there taking samples from all of the birds. The state gets your info from the auction owners.

Bingo! We have a winner! I just checked the date the swab was taken and it was the day of the Fletcher auction. Al and I saw the ag department truck there, but I didn't think much about it. Didn't see any official looking people there.

So does this happen a lot? I mean, this was the first time I had even sold anything at an auction.

I will be light in the pocket book I am sure by the time I leave there. I hope to leave here around 9:00 in the morning. The show building opens at 5:00 in the afternoon and I want to be there to pick what I want to bring home. I just sold about 20 chickens to a Mex. that has been taking my extra roos, so I now have room to put more cornish.

It is exciting that OETA is filming your heritage turkeys. I think it would be a nice plug for the BackyardChickens.com forum to be mentioned as a source of information. More and more people are wanting "local food" and this is a wonderful way to tell everyone about the local food sources in Oklahoma and a helpful place to get information about raising chickens and turkeys. If you have any turkeys left to sell for Thanksgiving or Christmas, the publicity will certainly take care of that need!
