Nope, that wouldn't have been it. They can't see your email address when they go into your profile. Click on my email link or my profile and you will see what I mean. And if they sent you an email from here, it would say email from BYC yada yada yada.

They got your email some other way.

I got the email, but they have my address because I have emailed them before. In fact, I think we both may have over a Craigslist ad for some turkeys that we were both interested in. You might want to go back and check your sent folder for something to the family that runs it.

Al, I think it depends on how determined they are and how deep their pockets are. There is no question they are losing money at the moment. If they stick to it long enough, they might just carve out a niche for the third Saturday. I think going up against a nearby, well-established auction like Cement is going to work against them for the first weekend of the month, and they have made some other mistakes (the tax thing) that are going to make the going tougher.

But, they insist they are here to stay no matter what. Time will tell, I guess.

Ahhhh haaaa that makes sense but then to use the emails we had when inquiring about the Turkeys still is no a cool thing to do to use it for a mail forward for business.. I dont know I just get alot of Spam because of Craigslist...

I don't think Q got it worked out from the last post I saw but I missed all of yesterday......I know Maddie was really wanting to see Q's daughter, they really hit it off at POOPS. I think the last I saw him post was he was going to hit an auction.

I look forward to just hanging out with them. It will be nice to get away.

Good to see you chime in. Well contrary to popular belief leasing these school or city AG barns cost very little, they may lose $$$ on the concession stand as I think they have allot of waste from unsold food. Right now most of the stuff being sold there is from the people who own the auction company, as you saw was evident by the PO's from him last time. I really don't like that, I want to see breeders and dealers and chickens raisers. I don't want to attend an auction that will mostly just benifit the key people who set up the auction, but it seems to be a prevelant method. Plus Jim they are not letting up on listing and selling Junk type stuff, they are actually promoting it.

I am, however, an Okie. In just about every way you can slice it. I live in Oklahoma, my grandmother was born in Indian Territory, did stick it out here, and my dad and a couple of siblings went to California when there was money there and none here. Some of my family "stuck it out" and some of my family fled to California, although which group was smarter is a matter of debate (half of central California is owned and controlled by Okies).

I did expect to see a complaint from some stickler for semantics, though. I know how deeply ingrained the prejudice against us Okies is among some native Oklahomans. Me, I consider it a term of endearment and compliment. To call someone an Okie is to call him and her a good old folk.

Stick around. Maybe some of that will rub off.

Ok well for the MOST part I THINK everyone here doesnt MIND being called an OKIE...

Jeannie

My Dad was a very young boy when he and his family went west to find work in the cotton fields. They would be there for the growing season and come back home for the rest of the year. You say fled like they did something wrong. They were trying to survive. I'm glad your family didn't have to go to California to survive the depression. Mine had to.

Who started the word as an insult? If it originated in another state, I couldn't care less what they thought. On this forum, Okie is a term of endearment.
