Carla really wants them. We might be driving thru that way over the weekend, if we go visit her Uncle in Aurora, MO.

Let me know if you can make it. I'm off work and home on Sunday & Monday.

Any time a bird is tested 1 copy goes to the state, once copy to the owner of the bird and one copy is retained by the tester. You should have gotten a copy of the test plus either the bird should have had a leg or a wing band placed on it to indenify it as a temporary tested bird which is good for 90 days.

The flock cert. is good for a full year.

With Pen I give 1cc twice daily and Pen-G I only give it every other day as it is the long lasting version of regular Pen. And it doesn't matter whether bantam or large. Still give 1cc.

If you are going to show at any other place, they will need the paperwork. Since the fair didn't give you anything to prove the chickens were tested, I don't think it will count. When you get the state to come out, it doesn't cost anything. If there is a show you are going to before January and the state is unable test them before that time, there is a couple of people on here that are testers.

I hope your crew starts showing. The kids really enjoy it and look forward to seeing their chicken friends (the other kids that show not the other chickens). For some reason, the thing my girls look forward to the most is staying in a motel...

Matt... I've been wanting to tell you that I have 2 roosters and 3 hens from the same RIR flock your chicks are out of. I hatched out 7 chicks last year from Julie (BamaChicken). Imogene got her flock from Julie. Back then, Julie had some rose comb RIR's also. I think she ran them all together. Her rose comb roo won reserve grand at a show in Florida.

2 of the chicks I hatched out were rose comb. You will have some good quality RIR's. Another RIR breeder on BYC is William (Pine Grove). He has some great looking birds. I have several from him that I got this spring.

In 2008, we just went to our local fair which of course the birds were tested and I didn't get anything from the state showing they were tested.

We used to show swine in FFA. We have 2 grown kids and they grew up showing pigs. We all had a blast. We got to where we raised our own and did pretty good. One of my 6 year old granddaughters helps me feed the chickens. She likes to try to pick out the good ones with me. I think they all would enjoy it. Thanks for the help.

I was talking with my 10 year old daughter tonight. She wants some Cornish Bantams really bad and I'm still having to work hard on keeping the Shamos. (She keeps trying to work a deal to get them from me.)

Aren't little girls supposed to want foo foo chickens???

Thanks Matt!

I'll see if we can make it on Sunday then. We have to work on Monday. I'm not really sure if we're making a trip that direction or not, but I'd sure like to go to visit my uncle in Missouri & take him some of my birds, and maybe we could drive back home on Sunday & stop by your place on our way home. If we do, I'd love the opportunity to raise the self blue d'uccle. If we can't make it that way by the weekend, I'll probably have to let someone else have the opportunity to enjoy them. We live so darn far away from you.
