Good morning my okie friends! It's good to see so many on chatting last night!

Henny, you know my prayers are with you!

Smf congrats on the new job! What are you hatching???

NN, thanks for always having so much information, no matter what we throw at you!

wow alot going on... Sorry about the horse sale. It really makes it hard to trust people for sure.
Im glad to hear that people are getting jobs and not losing them so Allen keep your chin up.
AnnaBell has been driving us all crazy here wanting to do more with her chickens. So we posted
them on craigslist for to darn much. We did get some e-mails. After all that you do for these guys to
get them from chick to laying you really feel you have it coming... So maybe its time to get serious
and do some shows? She has a beautiful set of black cochin that maybe can at least breed so Im going
to buy her a bator for Christmas. (Im looking if you have one for sale) She took the showgirl, big mama
the black cochin, and the ever nice polish roo to school. She did a little show for the Kindergarten kids
that was just so darn CUTE.. She did so good and didnt want to stop. Little Virginia even got to stand their
and hold the silly egg up. One little boy said "so thats what they look like with feathers" lol.
So with school, basketball, and we are moving our data center to down town from down town L.A. I get
no me time... Miss everyone... Take care

Morning, Sooner.

The roosters woke me up at the crack of dawn.

Quote:
My roosters don't always wait until daylight to start crowing. A few years ago, our son's family stayed with us for a week when the ice storm put them without power. My son asked me the first morning - are there roosters outside in the yard? I thought I heard one crowing at 2 am. Yes, those would be my roosters.

And then the crowing contest between the neighborhood roosters begins.

Good morning Okies

I'm awake and moving... been staring at my work computer screen for almost an hour already. What I'd *really* like to do is go home and go back to bed. But no... I can't. Plus, I have a work related exam *after* work today (4:15pm-6:30pm) and I'm definitely NOT READY. I've worked too much recently and haven't had the time to study. I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I will probably fail it. *shrug* At least my continued employment isn't based on it.

So what's the plan for today?

I've been at work for about 45 minutes. Wish I was at home, listening to the roo crow. He was crowing when I climbed into the car to head for work - and that was an hour or more before sunrise. I don't know why he was crowing so early - it's not like he has any competition! The other roo in the group doesn't crow at all - at least, I've never heard him, and he's at least eight months old. The next closest roos are about a half-mile away. Those neighbors wouldn't have a roo either if I hadn't given one to them. I know that one crows, but I've not heard him since I gave him away. His crow never was very loud, anyway...

before I get going today I shot a pic of my Black giant roo with
hubbys new camera and somehow got it to youtube...
Everyone have a look at my husbands pride and joy, his grass...;o)

Thanks to everyone for the congrats.

I am hatching some of my RIR and RIRxBSL eggs.

You may remember about three weeks ago, we had a new girl and she wanted some baby RIRs. I agreed to hatch some for her because she lives fairly close. Well I am hatching, but I guess she changed her mind.

I haven't heard from her since that first night. I sent an email telling her when I put them into lockdown two days ago, and still have heard nothing back. I set 42 eggs because she only wanted the RIR and I can't tell the difference between my girls' eggs. I wanted to make sure I had enough RIR chicks. So far, I have 7 babies and several pipped eggs in the incubator. The guinea eggs go into lockdown next week. (Roy, if you want some more keets, let me know. I feel awful about the last ones you got.)

Les, I guess you missed my question last night. Do you inject the penicillin or give it orally? I have heard both ways, but was wondering which one worked best. And if you inject in the breast, is it the left side as I'm looking at it or its left side? I know I'm full of questions, but you always have great answers.

That's good news! I really like the chicks I hatched out from Imogene, they are really dark & I've been thinking that it might not be such a good idea to put them with the RIR's that I got from Atwoods. I think it would take a long time to breed that lighter color out of the flock. The chicks are all very hardy!!
