Gitfiddle?? What's a gitfiddle??

Hope you reminded her how lucky she is. When we were kids we had to carry everything to school in 3 feet of snow and a 30 mile per hour head wind, uphill, both ways.

Barefoot. Down gravel roads in the summer, wading through snowdrifts in the winter. Not a tree in sight to block out the weather.

Her gitfiddle is a Guitar LOL, she has lessons 3 times a week. Yes she hates to hear my stories of when I was in school back in the day LOL, and most were true as I grew up in Chicago we got allot of snow and school was actually 4 miles away, I didn't have a car back then like almost all kids do now.

Mornin' folks! Bank thermometer said it was 32 degrees F on my way to work this morning. Brrr! Some of my chickens weren't bothered by it and some were gathered up like little feathered balls. lol

Stimp, how're your 4 week olds managing?

What was the problem with those 11 eggs you had to open ??.

AL

They were supposed to hatch Saturday. I candled and didn't see any movement at all. You don't think they would have still hatched, do you? Please say you don't think that.

Can you describe what they looked like, including the membrane?

I don't know very much (my knowledge probably wouldn't fill a thimble) but the people on here that do a lot of hatching might know if you provide a good description.

Honestly, I don't even know how to describe them. I don't know what information to give. Two of them were HUGE...as in, there was NO room in the shell at all. Ugh. I can't even finish writing. Now i'm feeling like if I'd waited 2 more days we'd have 6 more chicks.

I'll come back later when I'm less emotional.

Thanks y'all.

When eggs are candled late you rarely see movement as they are pretty crammed in the shell, A rule of thumb is to always leave them well past hatch day just in case, only toss them when they smell or are weeping/sweating. I think at some point we have all learned this terrible lesson. Don't beat yourself up about it, it happens to us all.

When I first got into chickens I was looking for dorkings or eggs needless to day that that was one breed I had to scratch off my list I did find some on ebay but from feedback they did not have very good hatching rates do I did not buy there was also some on eggbid but they were reserves for spring sorry I am not going to loan you my money for 6 months and then end up with nothing at the end of it all.

Found a lady with Silver Grays that are laying... so *rubs hands together* hopefully, HOPEFULLY I can get the 'bator to work.

Then of course you know I'm gonna hatch out all roos.

eta: the bator works fine. The problem is apparently the operator.

LOL, I hear ya, my boys ask almost everyday if I can take them to school. My answer is always the same......get your truck fixed and you can drive.
