I just want to let everyone know, especially the new folks it has been my experience at Shawnee that the bird prices tend to be high.
These are quality birds and usually fetch quality prices. You can make some good deals there but I just wanted everyone to know what to expect.

Don't let these Okies scare you, just jump in and soon you will find out you will increase in knowledge about chickens. Oh, I forgot to let you know you will also increase the size of your flock if you are not careful.

Michael is quite a guy. He started out with a handful of feathers and by noon he had traded up and sold over a hundred birds.
It was cold. The wind was howling which made it seem much colder of course.
I did get some Crevies for one poor addict and a few pigeons for another.
Some people are hopeless so I help out when I can.

Michael, You can't tell people you saw me buying chickens. They think I have fully recovered. So Shhhhhh!
I was just getting them for a friend. Yeah thats the ticket. Morgan Fairchild! Yeah! She wanted some Welsummers. So I bought them for her and now she owes me. Yeah!

Oh I forgot to tell you guys something. I woke up and of course the neighbor's dogs are barking like crazy. I look out the window and my German Shepherd is not on his lead. I start to freak out because this dog attacks any animal that gets near it. The only thing that was going through my mind was that my chickens are free ranging. I hurry up, get dressed and run out the back door. He was laying on the ground with chickens perched all around him. He just has the sweetest look on his face. He knows that he is in trouble and immediately runs to his dog house and waits for me to put his collar back on. He did not hurt a single feather. He just layed there and let the chickens play, scratch and peck on him. I was so proud.

He really shocked me because he know that chickens are food. He watches intently each time we process because he know that he will get the leftovers. He absolutely loves to eat what he don't keep for ourselves.

Okay my internet messed up last nite and wouldnt accept my password. My silkie eggs came from Cjexotic also, had a great hatch, cant count all the little buggars right now as i still got one working its way out and wanna keep that bator shut

when i was looking through the bator I heard chirping coming from the cabinet bator, surprise surprise, had 6 bbs orps in there and one stuck ine shell, helped the guy out and hope he makes it. Hate it when they get stuck, my bator doesnt run a high humidity so im surprised the others made it out so easily. So the wife aint gonna be happy ill have a total of 10 bbs orps in the front room and probly 20+ silkies sitting in a big 50gallon fishtank all winter lol. Ohhhhhhhh and I got more bbs and turkens due monday, reaaaaly hopeing for a big perty turken rooster, cross your fingers for me. I plan on doing some crosses with him for poops and giggles.

WEll I went to the local auction(salebarn) this morning. After sitting thru junk selling forever!

they finally sold what few chickens were there. I ended up with a trio of expensive(yes I was stubborn) Turken bantams.

The roo is a little larger than I like but they are the only bantams I have seen here. He has this nice very large comb that hadn't been frozen yet so I vasolined him up first thing. Then after I went in the house ,Ozzie the Asil came over and they fought through the wire! Now his comb and wattles are torn and bloody and Ozzie has one eye swelled shut!

Also before I left for the sale I set a cage trap out and baited it with two pigeons for the hawk. He came and instead of going in the trap huts pulled them thru the wire! Then went over to my coop and pulled another one thru just to show me he could I guess!
