Luvz, Nice ofer but I am not ready for chicks yet. Plus I am not getting any eggs right now so I'll take a rain check.

A friend of mine is getting eggs like crazy. If you just want some eggs to hatch let me know and I'll give you his number. He gets $2.00 per doz.

al6517 - Thanks...I forgot about her! I had talked to her before about some roosters! The distance was an issue but not now!!! Picture happy dance! Maybe not a pretty picture...unless I lie about myself! Picture 6' 200lbs not 6' 240 lbs

Slightly Cracked - Thanks for your reply. I had Bill re-read
the entry form and it's not totally clear, but will be fine
either way.

And, did want to mention about your NPIP "original". The
entry form only requests a "copy" of your test. Since the
KID thinks he needs to go to several shows, and the
test is good for a year, we just make a copy. He has
a few new birds that our County Agent will have to
test Saturday morning and we'll make a copy of that
report, too, to send in with his Pryor entry.

Chickens????.....Anybody want a KID ??????????????

Have a good one !

the document they, we, write up we send 1 copy to the state, give you a copy, 2 if you want it, and we keep 1 for our records.

you send your copy and the application form and 5 bucks to the dept. of ag, and they will eventualy send your npip certificate.

then each year you get all your birds retested, and the state will come out and do a spot check. they test a percentage of birds, and swab those birds to test for a.i. and e.n.d.

the tester class is once a year in okc only, recertification is done at a few votechs around the state.

the test is only good for 90 days, not a year.

Do you know when the next class is?? Who do I call to take the class?

If you are NPIP certified (had everything on the farm tested including ALL incoming birds) then you are good for one year, right??
On the bottom of my certificate it has an expiration date of 8/31/09. And sometime before then I will have the tester come out and retest everthing (because I have less than xxx number of birds)

If you have a state vet come out chances are they will do an AI test too then your flock will be certified AI free as well.

Can anyone else do this test or does it have to be a State Vet? I would like to downsize to just our show birds and become NPIP and AI free ceritfied.

Mefordz - Thanks to you, too.....Remember me???...Told you
I didn't have a clue..... Will have the same birds, plus five of
the new ones at the show Saturday and will get with the
Extension Agent. I do know that he is licensed to do the
tests. We had been told "a year"....., so may be "really"
busy Saturday morning.

Appreciate all your help.

Have a good one, all !

Hi Everyone!
A friend of mine is looking for some Black Jersey Giants in Oklahoma. She really wants to find some here in Ok so they don't have to be shipped. Does anyone know where to get them or is it better to just go to the swap meets and auctions? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi Josey

My husband and I have Jersey Giants, but we have only 5 black hens and at least 10 blue hens with blue roosters. Most of our chicks are blue and only about 2 or 3 out of 10 chicks hatch out black. I haven't seen many people with jerseys for sale at the auctions around central Oklahoma, although I'm sure there are some. Good luck!
