Monty, Al, and whoever else is involved: I've talked with Kenneth Kvittum, who handles Pryor's poultry shows. Theirs will be March 6, and several of us are involved in those shows. They have quite a nice quality show. I hope this input will help a bit with the decision on when to have our next POOPS.

Will you eat them after you blast them? I've got several bunnies that follow me, not closely, but still follow me in the early morning when I feed the chickens. I think they are hoping I'll accidentally kick over the feed bucket. It's odd because I stomp around like a bear, hoping to scare off anything big in the early-morning dark, but the bunnies stick around. DH can tiptoe out to see them and they scatter! They must know, instinctively, that I'm saving the double barrel for the coyotes.

Will you trade for a Faverolle rooster???? Send me a PM and we'll talk if you're interested. We could make the trade some time next week, as I'm still stuck in the classroom with high school students until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. I've got a few roosters, too, but most folks are looking for pullets or hens.

My extras right now include pullets in the follow breeds:
Barred Rock (2)
Light Brahama (1)
Barnevelder (2)
Welsummer (2)

These ladies will be laying soon (it's mighty cold right now). Let me know if you're interested in a trade. Thanks!

If they allow American Game Bantams we'll be there!

I dont know who you are talking about.... you will have to show me these tractors some time. What we plan on building is a basic A frame contruction. For the banties it will be a 4'h x 4'w' x 12'L with 4' of the length being the coop area and the other 8' being the run. then for the standards basically double the measurements and make the run detachable put the thing on flip down casters for easy moving.

Thought I would jump in on this conversation even though I am coming in a bit late. Of course I am not where near raising on the same scale you all are and have no plans to do such. The talk on chicken tractors is what I wanted to share some information with all of you about. I have a great idea for making a chicken tractor that I am planning on building in the spring. What has spurred this idea was the fact I have a hugh swing set the people I bought my place from left. It is kind of a deluxe model with three sections. I have taken all the swings, slide etc. off and am left with a pretty nice A-frame. My plan is to turn this into a chick turn out pen, once they graduate from the brooder. The main feature is that it will be all metal and/or plastic so it is easy to sanitize and a stablized frame will allow for easy hauling around. It is also part of my recycle program to cut down on overal waste.
I can tell you guys it is really easy to come by old swing set frames, with some chicken wire and a few panels of corregated metal you can make a chicken tractor easily.
