Don - I think I would like to see your ideas on the fridge 'bator. About what does it end up costing you? I would imagine that would keep good temp even outside in a garage?

Poultry and Bees - unfortunately for me I keep my birds in breeding pens of trios and Quads...it is way to easy to count

Plus with my schedule right now (concession stands at Basketball games and graduate classes at night) my wife feeds for me

I really got busted when there were birds in the walkway! in a carrier! But I didn't give the name of my supplier...I ain't no snitch!!

I was getting my chicken feed at Orscheln's and Tractor Supply. The layer is 16% protein. However, I've started getting my feed at Red River Grain (across from the fairgrounds). The layer is 20% protein there. I was having a problem with pecking but that has stopped since I changed the feed. It also seems like my chickens eat less of it.

The 50 lb. bag is about $9.75 and they always carry it to your vehicle. Just sharing because I always enjoy saving money as long as quality isn't sacrificed.

$9.75 for a 50 lb bag of 20% feed is an excellent price. In what county is Red River Grain?

I live in Bryan County. Red River Grain is produced in Kingston, Oklahoma. Since it's maybe 20 miles away, that's probably why it's a little cheaper (less shipping cost). I didn't know that until I looked at the label just now.

There is also calcium added to the feed.

You might be able to find a supplier in OKC though.

well, lets see. i live inside the city limits of wagoner, right dead in the middle of town.

i have had pigs, horses, goats, pheasants, pigeons, chickens, guinnies, ducks, geese, peafowl, and the occaisional donkey.

seems wagoner is considored a farming community, so if you have so many sqare feet you can have so many animals. i have a lot of square feet, so i get to have a lot of animals!

building codes are a little strict. potable buildings have to have a permit, those 695 carports you see everywhere have to have a permit, but if it is agriculterly related there is no permit required.

had a little trouble with the "code enforcement" officer, i just send him back to city hall if he shows up here.

I will be glad to help, I have maybe 75.00 in each one plus the turner if you want one. I have 1 with a turner and 1 with a homemade turner. each bator will hold about 200 eggs or an unknown amount of quill eggs. here is just one pic, I have been trying to get some up on my page but for some reason it's not working.

Don,
I am about as handy as a one armed paper hanger.
If you built one of your masterpieces and sold it to a fellow Okie BYC'er what would be your selling price?
Also would a refrigerator work as well as a freezer?
Monty

I would also be interested in one if you have one ready to go by any chance that would be awesome, cause I had to purchase eggs for my son's science fair project and went a little overboard, and even with both of my tabletops full there will be extras but I need to get them set by Saturday.

WOW what a morning woke when hubby did to go check prego doe ( goat) well I though I might wanna keep a closer eye on her today was going every hour for 2 hours then I knew today was the day. Went back out for the 4th time at 9 and stayed baby doeling ( first live birth here) was born at 9:55 she is dried off and back out with mom to eat. Never a dull moment around here let me tell you.

I'm sure a frig would work, I just like the single compartment of the freezer, as for the price
Just the cost of the materials should do it..I really enjoy building them, Like I said It just takes me a couple of days..and you would have to come get it. of course you could come and help and get it done sooner, and learn a new skill if you can call it that..

I could try, but I don't think I like Arkansas that much cause that's where I would be

Just think it would make a nice road trip

you could always come over and meet up with Monty and you both could make the trip, and both have good company along the way.
