Okies in the BYC The Original

To those having problems with headaches I would like to share my recent experiences:

Last Friday Corey came home from school and told me one of her teachers had done a test on her. Her teacher gave Corey these colored overlays to use while reading. Of course, I started doing some research on it and called her teacher on Monday. Her teacher confirmed that she had screened her for the Meares-Irlen Syndrome. And this was hereditary... To make a long story short. Her teacher screened me today and said that I could benefit from the overlays as well. I've had headaches thru the years and I have 20/20 vision. The last time my eyes were checked was this last summer. And at that time I complained of the some of the vision problems such as the text jumping, red & itchy eyes (I was thinking this was allergies) and headaches. I had never put it together that it wasn't normal for about three words to be in focus on a page (while the rest of the page was blurry) or to use my finger to keep track of the line I was reading on or else lose my spot. I mean I have 20/20 vision. If those of you having problems with headaches have been doing a lot of reading or computer work lately, do a search on Irlen Syndrome and see if you have any more of the symptoms. I had never heard of this until this weekend and found it rather fascinating what a different color tint on the text will do.

I just thought I would pass on this information and if it helps anyone else that would be great.

morning okies! woke up to a outside hose spraying water everywhere! looks like a run this morning for a replacement hose- at least it wasn't inside!

as far as the brahma gender issue, am hoping ct is a pullet, she/he holds the tail like Lily- guess its a case of wait for the crow or egg? Barny is quite a roo.... yesterday we had a hawk fly by, talk about a growl! and then he tells the ladies to stay put while he walks the perimeter- hope ya don't mind some pics, by the way, that fluffy butt behind him is CT

Let us not talk about lunchtime errands... used to have an hour for lunch, but last year management decided that was too long, shortened our lunch to a half hour, good news about THAT is that we leave a half hour earlier (3:30pm instead of 4pm). I don't complain usually but makes it very difficult to run errands during lunch!

Brought breakfast today from home... double chocolate pancakes. I should have a fantastic sugar crash here in a couple hours

Good morning everyone. (at least I think so, it took me four tries to spell "good" correctly.) The kids are off to school, DH is off to work, and I gotta clean the house. I have to be at work at 1:00 today. That heated bed sure is calling my name though. We have company coming over this morning, so I suppose I should at least straighten up the front room. With DH and my work schedule, we don't do much cleaning during the week. We usually clean on Saturday and rest on Sunday.

My living room is now full of boxes. In those boxes are baseball cards to sell. I have to go through them and place them all on eBay for a friend. I have no clue what they are worth and have to figure it all out. Yeah fun for me.

I hope everyone enjoys their day. I just might have to break the coffee pot out and get some joe going.

I really need to get two sweet Silkie pullets from BetsyOK to the Cement, OK poultry show on the 30th of this month. I sent out PMs to a couple of you, and from those I have a wonderful lady able to bring them to Moore, OK for me! That gets them about half-way to the show (which is great

) Now, if there is someone who could get them from Moore to Cement, I would be forever in your debt

I don't think I have ever had chocolate pancakes.....

This will probably make AL flinch...

Make your favorite pancake mix, either homemade or box. Add 2 tbsp cocoa powder per batch (two batches, 4 tbsp, etc) to the dry ingredients. When you mix the wet/dry ingredients, fold in 1/4 cup chocolate chips per batch into the batter.

Oh yeah, I don't use syrup on these. I top these with homemade peanut butter.

Just a reminder-

Tonight is the Maud Auction. Miscellaneous starts at 5 pm, Goats & Sheep at 7pm, then Poultry afterwards.

Saturday is the Guy Rose Auction (Stillwater/Perkins) Miscellaneous and Poultry sides start at 9:30am. Both sides auction at the same time, and the Hay always sells at Noon.

See you there!
