Good evening Okies!!
Hope everyone got to go out and enjoy this lovely day. Heck it is still nice out side which I know because I heard a chicken screaming out in the coop. So I run out there because we have been having difficulties, as everyone knows, with predators. When I closed up the coop tonight there were several stragglers, one of my black cochin pullets, a langshan pullet and my black sultan hen decided they did not want to go to bed with everyone else. I guess the little cochin got scared and was out there just screaming her head off and not another creature around.
Of course with her screaming it would have only been a matter of time before something came and shut her up for good.
Do you all know how hard it is to catch black chickens at night. Oh well, everyone is safely in the coop and grow out pen. Stupid Chickens.
So far we are three weeks no kills.
Tomorrow is the Blanchard auction and I am so looking forward to it.
I have some cages I need to get rid of that are just taking up space and a few other odds and ends. I probably need to get rid of a few of my new chicks but I just do not think I can let any of them go. They all think I am their chicken mama and they are my babies. Heck they eat out of my hand and stick their heads up so I will pet them. It is so sweet. Boy I am in so much trouble.
I would like to know more about the CD idea. If I hung them up in the chicken pen would that work? So far hawks have not been my problem. If nothing else it might decorate the place up a little.
Ok, this may sound like a stupid question but mille fleur cochins are not the same as mille fleur d'uccle, right? I was on a site where they were calling mille fleur d'uccle, cochins and was a bit confused. I did not see any pictures but my cochins do not have beards and d'uccle definitely do have beards. One of the reasons I covet them so.
Now if there is such a thing as a cochin with the pattern on their feathers like the d'uccle I need someone to hook me up cuz I must has some of those.
Also while cruising the internet today while my students were taking their benchmark tests (which I can not help them at all) I found some people who raise French Copper Black Marans and blue Ameraucanas. They are selling the Maran eggs for $60 a dozen and the Ameraucana eggs for $30, of course this price did include shipping.
Now the birds they have are nice do not get me wrong but for $60 a dozen hatching eggs they better all be guaranteed to hatch and hand delivered on silk cushions.
I hope everyone has a great night, going to go get some sleep, it has been a long week and I have not slept for poop. Night All!!!
