There was a "Letter to Pets" posted here, and I thought it was so funny, I wrote up one just for us poultry owners

-----------------------------------

The following was found posted very low on the back door.

Dear Chickens and Ducks: These wooden boxes are for you to lay your eggs in - no matter how tantalizing the cushions on my porch chair looks.

This area with the delicious-looking plants has a fence around it for a reason. I will be sure to share the vegetables with you once they are all grown. But, for now, scratching away the dirt from those tiny seeds doesn't do any of us much good.

This pathway from the gate to the feed bin was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the feed is not the object. I will walk as fast as I humanly can, but regardless, it is only a few yards. Also encircling my feet does not help, because tripping me just makes you wait longer.

I will not buy anything bigger than your 20 gallon water-er. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue hauling fresh buckets of water down to your coop only to find you still have a full container, but that you just enjoy pecking drips of water off the leak in the pipe.

Is there such a problem with your heated/air conditioned coop and it's state-of-the-art building and roost? Or, do you really prefer sleeping in the top of that old apple tree.

For the last time, just because I somehow forgot to close the porch gate, does not mean that you have a personal invitation to make it your new home. And, pecking on the back door to alert me of your stake-out, is really not such a great idea on your part.

Finally, in fairness, dear birds, I have posted the following message on the front door:

TO ALL NON-POULTRY OWNERS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR BIRDS:

(1) They live here. You don't.
(2) If you don't enjoy them crowing and quacking through our conversation, you are better off not stopping by at all.
(3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
(4) To you, they are animals. To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, feathery, love to eat the bugs in my garden, lay my breakfast, and don't necessarily speak clearly.

Remember, my birds are better than your kids because they:
(1) eat less
(2) don't ask for money all the time
(3) are easier to train
(4) normally come when called
(5) never ask to drive the car
(6) don't smoke or drink
(7) don't want to wear your clothes
(8) don't have to buy the latest fashions
(9) don't need a gazillion dollars for college
and (10) if you don't want grandchildren, you can sell always their kids

We can donate it wherever you guys want but I would say some of it should go to the guys who are gonna bring the meat and smoke it.

I like this idea.
Last year our little league raised money for tornado victims in Picher Ok. Which is less than 5 miles from our baseball field. Shaun's(the kiddo) school was hit in Quapaw Ok. School was let out 2 weeks early and and started a week late this year trying to get all of the damage repaired.
My work raised money for the Red Cross, which spent a TON of time up here during the tornado and the ice storm.

I can donate hatching eggs and possibly some chicks to raffle off. Bantam brown leghorns.

The kiddo is all fired up about make his turtle cake. And I can make something fluffy/cool whippy. I can also bring some beef and pork ribs too. I can bring LOTS of deer meat!!

Hiya OEGB, that is my pigeon friend.

Dont know how to upload pictures yet here. I will try to learn soon. My doves are ring neck nothing fancy but we like them until 2 in the morning and they want to "sing" or fight.

Teach, did I see a swallow in that picture? The black and white one with the spot on its nose. I love your Yellow barred Cappuchins, our cock is solid red with the white in the right spots, I really like the Lavender Indian Fantails also, They are Indians aren't they or are they English? You have a Beautiful pair of black splash fantails also. I have always liked the Baldhead West of England Tumblers, was that a black in the background? Lynn

Howdy y'all.
I live between McAlester and Atoka in a little wide spot in the road named Wardville. My Husband and I were both raised n Caddo County in the Anadarko/ Ft. Cobb area.
I raise several breeds of chickens to sell eating and hatching eggs from. I also raise all of our own meat birds. I have a meat bird project that is just beginning to bare fruit, but still don't know the outcome on. That is a Cross between a Red Dorking and Dark Cornish.

The breeds I raise are Blue Americauna, Red Dorking, Dk Cornish, Cuckoo Marans, Black Copper Marans, Silver Laced Polish, Silkies, Bantam Cochins and d'Uccle Mille Fleurs. I just got a Golden Cuckoo Rooster and will either be buying more, or I will use my Silver Cuckoo hens and wait three generations to have a flock of Goldens. I have a line of Sports from My Cuckoos I am working on getting Standardized.
My Red Dorking pair have just started becoming parents, so it will be awhile before I have an actual flock of them. I have a line of laying hens I have been working on for the past 9 years. They are a mixture of Americauna, RIR and Hatch Game. The hens have all standardized to a real pretty partridge color. They lay early, lay jumbo eggs and lots of them. Some still lay green, but most are shades of Beige.

My Daughter has a trio of Royal Palm Turkeys in my yard. I am also brooding some Blue Laced Red Wyandottes we hatched for her. She is picking up Old Fashion RIR eggs tomorrow.

The Community sale in Anadarko always let people bring livestock to sell. So does the one in Sulpher. I believe there is a Poultry sale and auction in Indianola also.

Nice to see all the Okies here.
