I love my fireplace...bad thing is the rest of the house is cold but I just think...no furnace running means less on the 'lectric bill...if it wasn't for those silly heat lamps! That is what I get hatching in the cold!

Well we have about 4 inches now . Supposed to get 7-9 before its over. At least we don't have the ice.Its about 40 miles south of us.I can't wait to see it in the morning! At last a good snow. But tomorrow night it gets down in the single digits.

Hey sooner. Talk about being barefoot in the hills,I have been sitting in the spare bedroom tonight barefoot and quilting on my antique quilt frames and listening to the Grand Ole Opera on the radio. I think I and officially a hillbilly now!lol:clap:lau

Matt were those bantam turkens in that coop you were showing us?

I know what you mean...we are still burning wood from the last ice storm. Vern was able to collect lots of downed trees that were free for the taking. So he did and we have a mountain of wood still to be split. It all burns well---and is essentially free heat! I'll take that any day over paying the propane company for our heat!

Word Wayne! - quilting?...does that make you a billy-sexual?

That is cool I am only messing. I wish I had the kind of patience and eye for detail it took to do things like that. I have a sister that knits and many family members that cross stitch...I put pieces of wood together and cut up dead things

My one claim to coolness is that i saw Minie Pearl in her last appearance on the Grand Ol' Opre...in person no less!

Vern and I are going to build dust bath boxes for the chickens tomorrow---should be nice and comfy in the shop even tho it will still be cold outside. It is clear as can be here in Piedmont--the last of the clouds have at last moved on. It sure was pretty to see the HUGE fluffy snowflakes today though!

I have to get to bed Okies. Nice chatting with you guys. Be good humans!

Well Teach in our house it seems the roles have switched, she is the sports nut, baseball, football, basketball, golf, soccer, you name it she watches it. I sat around sewing,do the cooking, laundry, housework!gofigure,I guess its glodal warmings fault!lol. But come warm weather I put the sewing away and garden, mow and do all the poiltry stuff. Dang, the snow will shut down the salebarn sat!Ohh I feel withdrawl!but there are some neat silkie cross pullets on craigslist, but it will days before I can go after them. Ohhh more withdrawls. Wonder if you get DTs from chicken withdrawl! Sure hope not.

I don't hand quilt, or hand sew... my eye gives me grief with that. However, I've done lots of hand applique in the past, Jacobean and Hawaiian. Mainly because the projects are relatively small and portable...

You are welcome! I have gotten at least that many. I don't know if you saw my posts last week or not but I brought home an Australian Shepherd that just didn't get along with my chickens. Well, as soon as I got her re-homed and decided to start with a puppy next time, I went straight to that book site and used my credits to order books on Aussies, Aussie training, and puppy training

Looks like we got another four inches in Haskell last night. I'm trying to look on the positive side, because we were expecting six. I needed a shovel to get the doors to the pens open. I'd put extra feed out last night, so all I really needed to do this morning was clean out the water dishes and visit with the chickens. They're cold, but they don't seem to have had any major problems during the night.

I couldn't find any dog prints, so I'm thinking the strays are hunkered down somewhere, trying to stay warm. A question for hunters out there... FIL in Yukon, OK, suggests I get a Remington 700 series .243 W with a 24" barrel. He thinks I'll be comfortable with the 10 lb. recoil, and knowing my accuracy with a revolver, he thinks it will do for just about anything I need to hit. Any thoughts?

DH is still traveling for work, writing code for the flight simulators at Kirtland AFB in New Mexico. I sent him a few pictures of the snow, and he's thinking this storm will delay his return. The other engineer from Tulsa has already moved his return flight from this weekend to the end of next week. I'm expecting to hear DH has done the same. It makes no sense to come home if you have to rent a four-wheel-drive vehicle at the airport in order to leave the parking lot. DH drives a Honda Insight, so he'd high-center on an armadillo. Weather like this makes driving his car impossible.
