I'm still trying to get rid of all these roosters. The storms have kept people from coming to get them, I suppose. There have been a couple of prople interested, but then all the ice and snow hit. Roy is supposed to come get some guineas and possible the EE trio, and I have to get rid of an extra white Silkie cockeral.

P.S. The blue EE pullet is all better now. No puffy eyes or runny nose anymore.

The best thing for a sore throat is gargling with very warm salt water. About 1/2 tsp table salt to 2 cups of water. It hydrates the membranes in your throat so they aren't so tight and sore. Gargle about every 2-3 hours.

Hot tea with honey also helps soothe a sore throat.

Are you sure you don't have strep throat? Any fever?

No fever or strep. It was caused by sinus drainage from my allergies. The sinuses are better but the sore throat still lingers.

Sounds like you want something that is weatherproof, so it doesn't have to be inside of a building. How about something along the lines of a large igloo dog house with a light of low wattage inside for warmth and a board across 9/10th of the door to keep the chicks contained and warm, yet allow for ventilation? How many chicks are you wanting to brood?

Monty has agreed to allow me to help keep a list of people who are coming to the 2010 POOPS! It's Saturday May 1 at the Choctaw KOA, in case you haven't heard. Al will be posting the Official Announcement soon.

I'll set up a BYC page and try to keep it updated with who is coming to help with headcounts, etc. The list will be on my BYC Page over there at the left - click the View My BYC Page link under my avatar to see who all plans to be there. Let me know if you plan to come and I'll add you!

Also, we'll have nametags on site so we can know who's who. At the first POOPS I went to I jumped out of the car happy and all ready to see my Okie Chicken friends, and I didn't recognize ANYBODY! Nametags will have our screen names with first names underneath. If I don't already have your real first name from previous posts, past get-togethers or whatever I may PM you and ask.

I used to lose my voice about 4 times a year due to allergies. Besides the gargling with warm salt water, and drinking hot tea and honey, I found that Robitussen CF or just plain Guaifenesin capsules were a lot of help to get the drainage under control and my vocal cords unswollen. Anytime I would go to the doctor, they would give me a prescription that was some hopped up version of Guaifenesin, so now I just keep the capsules on hand and when I start the coughing and drainage, I take those and keep from losing my voice. Musinex has Guaifenesin in it also.

really depends on how many i get to hatch and keep progressing but would like to have enough room until i run out of room, but say 50-150 per brooder, maybe even more.

The best thing I have found so far is Excedrin Sinus. The only problem is I can only find it in single use packs at a truck stop. I have some Mucinex but it doesn't seem to be helping. I have been taking Tylenol Severe Allergy and it helps some. Thank you for the advice.

Ask at Walmart if they have a generic for Excedrin Sinus. I think you would get the same thing if you combined Tylenol, aspirin, caffeine (ingredients of Excederin) with a decongestant like Sudafed. Mucinex won't help with pain, but it should help with the drainage so that your throat isn't so swollen.
