I think they ride horses to the prom at my old school. We never did that because we didn't want to make our dates feel bad.

We sure had some pretty horses back in the day.

Monty and Teach...Are you two kidding us....that is terrible. IT'S THE PROM!!!! Not the Saturday night HO-DOWN! That's one of the times that a girl looks forward to.

I was afraid (or maybe hopeful) that mine was the only mind that locked onto that.

oNLY CAUSE YOU ARE GUYS.

You guys are awful!!! I'm going to leave and go get up 20 future prom goers up from rest time. Plan time is over. Catch ya later.

Had a big surprise this morning when I went out to feed. Peeps from one of the Silkie coops! One tiny babe! I didn't think she'd be able to hatch anything, as cold as it has been. Was due somewhere else and didn't have time to prepare a brooder, so left the babe there in hopes it would still be OK when I got home several hours later. When I got back, there were two! Both appear to be porcelains! One has a vaulted skull and both have good toes. I've now got them in a brooder in the house. Mama has two or three eggs left that I hope will also hatch. Papa is a nice, light porcelain from good lines, mama is either a decent porcelain, a silver-white Showgirl, or a buff Showgirl. First hatch of the year!

Did you see my post where I picked up the Partridge Silkie from Cammy? Well John F. came by right after I got her, so he looked her over and was able to give me some great information and advise about her. Between the two of you, I know everything I'd ever need to know about this Silkie and Partridge Silkies in general

He thinks she may be Blue Partridge, though, do you think that is possible?

No RIR should throw a black chick.... Give him a little bit, if it should have feathered legs then it will be a little difficult to see the black fuzz on an new baby with black legs while still in the bator drying.

Well, he has been moved to the brooder and is definitely black with black legs and beak and no feathers on the legs. However, I have also noticed two of the Cochins toes are stuck together on each foot. They look totally formed, but skin keeps the two toes together on both feet. I have never seen this before so now I don't know what to do about these two little chicks. So we have 5 Partridge Cochins, 5 RIR, 1 Porcelain D'Uccle, and 1 black mystery chick in the brooder, with 4 Porcelain D'Uccles, 3 Partridge Cochins still in the bator drying. I can see that there are definitely 2 more D'Uccles, and a RIR hatching.

that there are more on the way that I can't tell through the window.

So that puts up to the count of 5 D'Uccles fully hatched (2 more hatching right now),

I had Partridge Standard Cochins, Blue Standard Cochins (but I don't think any of them developed), Rhode Island Red, Porcelain D'Uccle. Of course when everything is done I will be able to tell better with what hadn't hatched and what did. But I am leaning towards it have coming from what was suppose to be RIR.

Yes, I saw that you'd picked her up. I'd be interested in John's comments about her. I suppose she could be a blue partridge, 'though she's not from my really good pair. I've had no fertile eggs from them, but do plan to try AI.
