I hate the LG but even if you tore it apart for parts it still would not be too bad of a $$.

Thanks Dachsunds - I sent you a PM put wanted everyone else to know that the goof sits squarly on my shoulders. I put eggs frpom my birds in there and they didn't hatch either! I am

that my week is off and they hatch this Friday but don't think my odds are good...I am horrible at candling but they seem good so we will see!

Just wanted to add...that is the danger of hatching in a sportsman with the three trays! It works great as long as you do i tray per week and don't do anything silly like quail eggs or really sillylike quail eggs one week and then week and a half later do bantams! I think I might have done that which would have me off a week but I was really inteligent and wrote nothing down

I never had much luck keeping the plastic egg cradles in place on the Little Giant egg turner I had. I much prefer the Hovabator incubator and turner. I also learned that the yellow egg turner for the Hovabator won't fit inside the Little Giant and vice versa. When the Hovabator went to the rounded corners on the styrafoam incubator, I tried to find some extra clear plastic liners for my older square cornered Hovabators. When I purchased one of the new Hovabators with the rounded corners (with a completely clear top so we could better watch the hatch),

I learned that the liner for the new rounded corner incubator fits the old square style also.

Teach - try writing the date you put the eggs in the bator on the egg with a pencil. That way, even if the sticky note you put on the incubator gets lost, you will know when to move the eggs to a hatching tray/bator and when to toss old eggs before they explode.

A few years ago a neighbor gave me a foam incubator after his overdue eggs exploded inside. I tossed the bottom and just saved the part with the fan and heating elements - after much work scrubbing it until it didn't stink anymore.

After using a cabinet incubator for the first time last year, I agree that they are definately easier to use than a styrofoam- particularly for the incubation time when the humidity and turning are so important. Since my cabinet bator has a solid door, I like putting some of the eggs in a styrofoam bator for the last three days however, so we can better watch them hatch.

I wish I could claim I lost the sticky note! I didn't write nothing...how hard could it be to remember a simple date

...write it on the egg well that would make too much sense! No talking about exploding eggs!

Couple more days! everything will work out great!

I couldn't help but think about the time I had some turkey eggs (that I had bought at an auction) explode in my cabinet incubator which was full of other eggs. Oh my .... don't want that to happen again

It really is funny now!

Teach - it wouldn't hurt to "sniff" the eggs just to make sure there are no fowel odors (pun intended) They do start to stink before they explode - most of the time.

Yes, they do start smelling some. Gerald didn't believe me when I told him to take some eggs outside to the trash & he cracked one open ....

He believes me now!
