Oh Well, Theres always next month huh? How did the baby shower go? Did she get everything or are there things she needs that didnt get?

She got alot of things, mainly clothes and blankets and toys. Usually you see alot of bottles and diapers at babyshowers and I didnt see hardly any of that. Oh well, there are 3 houses that will be supplied with baby items, talk about fun! Her mom's house, our house, and the baby's dad's house. We have gathered almost everything already minus bottles and small things so there doesnt have to be so much toted from house to house. We have a crib and a playpen and a few other things. Will probably grab a swing this next month so we have the bigger neccessities.

We missed y'all at Fletcher.
Edited to add - sorry to be redundant - I didn't read all the posts from Peaches before I responded to your email that caught my attention.

Its ok.... At least I know I was missed....lol

Sitting here at the computer a few minutes ago, a few feet from the brooder containing four one-week-old Silkie chicks, I heard a strange, shrill sound. Looked to see what was wrong, and seeing nothing, resumed typing. When the sound came again, it triggered the memory of a "first" attempt at crowing! Have no idea which one is doing it. Now, I know many of you won't believe in a one-week-old crowing, but those of you who have witnessed this early crowing know it happens. A real surprise to hear it this early, 'though. I'm sure it happens much more often than we realize; it's just that these babes are so close to me, and I'm in this room often.

Morning Everyone!

Well just thought I would jump on here real quick before the kids get here. We are getting ready for CRT testing

I totally hate these things mainly because of the stress it places on the students.

Steph does Carl have Larry in Harrah number so I can call him about the white and black ameraucanas? I used to have it but it got misplaced, like so many of my things. Think it is

I have a Question,

During the icestorm, every day I went out and gathered what eggs were being laid. Mainly duck eggs. I have a golden laced cochin, 5 buff orpington hens, 3 RIR Hens 1 blue andelusian hen, one black game hen. When i would see a hen on the nest it was always a RIR, nothing else. When there was an egg in the nest, it was a large brown egg, which I assumed was a RIR, since thats all I ever saw on the nest. I am hatching those eggs now and all I am Getting are beautiful blue chicks with blue legs. Nothing else, just blue. Not complaining, I love blue, but why blue out of RIR eggs? The only blues I have are the andelusians and they lay white eggs or so I have always been told.

Good morning, everyOkie!

Faerie - I thought "Wyandotte" when I saw the photo of your new Atwoods chicks, too. Once they start getting a comb you'll be able to tell better.

Also, Faerie, I have a question for you! You're a "fingernail" type of person, right? I have a problem you may be able to help me with. About a month ago I was cast as a hand model and I was required to have long red nails. So I went and had the acrylic kind put on - I've never done that before. Anyway, now they're growing out and I have cut them off short, but how do I get the acrylics off my nails?

(edited to correct spelling)

She's 11

The perfect age for Uncle Doc to show her how to distinquish the different breeds of birds, run an auction and BID on everything.

And if Teach shows up, Uncle Teach can help her with the bantams.

You can go to a nail place and have then removed or you can do it at home by soaking them in acetone and finding something thin to fit under them and slowly peel them from your nail..... either way is slightly painful and will tear up your nail some.

Thanks Steph - I have already discovered the "slightly painful" part! The client paid me to have the nails put on, but I didn't think far enough ahead to consider charging to have them removed. I'll try the acetone trick since that will cost about $1.29 at the drug store...
