Yep, we're going to the Cement auction. I've got to sell a few pairs of chickens (Spitzhauben & Jersey Giants) a couple of white guineas, and most of all ... bring some eggs to Countyroad! and Okiechick, if she'll show up! Gosh, I wish I could go to the bird show in Pryor, and the auction in Harrah too. Too much to do, too much I wanna do, and too little time. Oh, and I have baby chicks hatching in the incubator today! Whoo Hooo!!!!!

Baby chicks that have hatched/are hatching are: I put 15 eggs in of silkies from birds I raise and a variety pack of purebred chicken eggs that I bought on ebay. I've hatched 12 of my silkies, But, so far, the variety pack isn't doing too well ... I've only had 3 hatch of 15 of them, 2 are for sure speckled sussex, and 3 brown eggs are still pipping, although this is the 22nd day. I'm going to help them out, if they haven't hatched before time for me to go to work.

Baby chicks are soooo Cute!

I'm planning on making the show in Pryor. I'll be there with my son (10 yr old). I'll be very easy to identify. I'll have my Mounds Fire Department hat on that says "chaplain" on the bill.

I'm really looking for some welsummers to breed, and some sort of Bantys. Preferably something on a more unique note.

I'll be leaving there, and going to the Inola auction. So I probably won't be there very late.

I'd say of your going to inola for the livestock, you better go there first. I know it goes fast. I go to the auction for farm stuff. Not so much for the livestock. I had a really bad experience with "auction" chickens.

Update on my hatching chicks ... my silkie eggs hatched on day 21, but my variety pack I bought from someone on ebay hatched on day 22! All but some clear eggs and 3 that died before the hatch. I emailed the lady about the day 22 hatch, and she said another person emailed her and said the eggs they bought from her did the same thing! So hey ... don't throw out the eggs til after day 22! Anyway, from the variety pack, I have 3 black austrolorp, 2 black langshan, 1 blue cochin and 2 speckled sussex. I'm sure I'll need to trade for some unrelateds?

Who's going to the Cement Poultry Auction on Saturday???? I called them and they say it opens at 3pm & auction starts at 5pm. I guess we're going to Cement, and then we'll go to Harrah auction next week. Too bad I can't go both places this Saturday! I hope to see/meet some BYC Okies real soon! My boyfriend said he'll be wearing his retired Air Force ball cap, if anyone is looking for us.

Sorry Chickenhead, I haven't seen any.

Monty and Okie, where have ya'll been!? Busy, I'm sure. Okie, do you think you'll make it to Cement Saturday? Any special requests if not??

Grace, I can't wait until your Mille Fleurs hatch, you will love them! My lone d'Uccle is my favorite. Its got itty bitty eyes, big poofy yellow cheeks, and those feather skis that look like flippers. I want to put it in my pocket and take it everywhere!

Oh my gosh, Cammie! That is just the cutest thing ever!
Hey, would you be ready for more MF d'Uccle eggs around the 10th? My little hen just now layed again, so by next Monday (not the Monday in 2 days, but the next one), I should be able to stick a couple more in my bator, then save up 6 or 7 for you

Oh, and don't worry that you are "taking" my eggs, because I am trying to "cycle" my staggered-hatch batches out of the incubator, then on the 25th, I am starting fresh.

Since I am a complete rookie to chickens, as is my daughter, we're glad we went. I was a bit disappointed as I'd hoped to see some standard Wyandottes and there wasn't a one.

I bent down at most all the cages and talked quietly to the birds. It was interesting how different their reactions were. Some would get as far away as possible. Others would come up as close as possible and talk back in that little quiet voice.

There were only a couple rows of standards, mostly Cochins, but the vast majority was bantys. And lots and lots of Silkies.

My 2-year-old Grandson was certainly mesmerized.

We'd have gotten there a lot sooner if we'd known there was an OLD Hwy 20 and that's where we should have been instead of on NEW Hwy 20. Live and learn.

I was disapointed with the standards too. We were really looking for Welsummers. My son wants to raise them again since we lost them all a ouple of years back.
I agree. It was very lopsided with Bantys.
I did however pickup a pair of white silkies. My 5 yr old was very happy to get them, and the hen layed an egg this evening. We popped it in the incubator, so maybe we will have a new little silkie up for trade soon.
If anyone has welsummers in Oklahoma, I'm interested!

I didnt make it to the show in pryor, but I made it out to the 412 auction. Wow, you talk about a variety of fowl, and poultry. They had soo many different breeds of chickens, turkeys, quail, guinees, geese, ducks, you name it, it was there. I ended up bringing home a pair of red silkies, and 3 auracana hens and 2 roos. I dont think Im gonna keep the roos though. If anyone needs a auracan roo let me know.
