No trip to the doc & No water!

I ate for the first time since day before yesterday & I am regreting it.

Nasty stomach virus. I will live.

Maddie went from this to broncidise (SP) she has been having breathing treatments to get it under controll.

I'm good. Got out and enjoyed the warmer weather. Moved a flower bed, cleaned out the shed, played with the birds. Anxiously awaiting the big sale sat. Made some room for guneia pigs I hope to get. Wondering what chickens I will see that I think I can't live without!lol.

Privett hatchery has good prices that include the shipping cost in the price per bird. I have never ordered from them before, but they have the runners in several colors, the Kacki Campbells and Swedish (but you can't specify black or blue).

Maribeth...if you are going to have some runners at POOPS I would like to get a few from you if you have extra. I wanted to at the last POOPS and didn't.

Hopefully, I will have fawn colored runners from my own incubator and maybe some young runners of another color.

I bought some fawn runners from Chickensandmore at the Spring 2009 POOPS and sold 14 runners at the Fall 2009 POOPS. I have eggs in the incubator, so hope to be hatching some soon. I want to place an order for a different color of runners, for delivery in late April, so would be able to add some to my order and bring them May 1 if you just want a few and don't want fawn colored ones.

quick question- do they need a pond? ours dries out late summer- we were thinking of maybe a kiddie pool for them??

Runners don't need a pond, but like all ducks they need a water dish deep enough to dunk their heads in when they eat, so that their food will be swallowed and digested correctly. Mine have access to water in a 7 gallon black rubber feed/water tub and they do fine, even going in on occasion to dunk their entire body.

You may need to drink some gatorade to be sure you don't get dehydrated. Have you pinched the skin on the back of your hand to see how quickly it returns to normal? Even if you were drinking water, being sick can dehydrate you fast and that adds to the fatigue, headache, etc. You might also consider some Activa yogurt or some probiotic capsules to get your digestive system back to normal after several days of no food.
If you are sick to your stomach, you might also consider taking some motion sickness pills to help combat the nausea. And of course, saltines and Sprite are always good ways to help ease back into real food.

I can't remember either. With 3 regular layers, 1 sporadic layer, and 1 that laid her first egg yesterday, I think I should probably start trying to get my hands on some egg cartons. I'm almost out of the few 18 counts that I had.
