Well we need you around more to regale us with "Stimpy Tales"

Do you get to turkey hunt anymore?
Man I had a blast hunting last weekend.
I have not turkey hunted much before and really just went so Jared could try and get one.
We both got one but getting mine was just gravy.
We had two text book hunts. Two hours and two miles apart.

I haven't been turkey hunting in a few years. I gave up my lease and haven't found another good one yet. And you're right, watching the kids get excited about hunting is far better than taking the game yourself. I might try to go again in the fall. We'll see.

I think I am hooked now. The calling part and hearing them gobble and come in was awesome.

The one Jared killed and others flew off the roost and flew right over our heads then we called them back in.
On mine we were riding and stopping to call and then when we heard them we went part way to them and set up and then my buddy got up behind about 75 yardsand started working them.
They came in like they were on a string.
I thought he was closer but after I shot, the range finder said 53 yards. My buddy gave me a hard time about not waiting until he got closer.
I was afraid I was gonna spook him becauseI couldn't hardly hold my gun steady.

Next thing we know, you will be getting a Tom turkey so you can practice your turkey calls on a live Tom. I understand from friends that the Narragansett turkeys not only look very similar to wild turkeys, but their calls are very similar as well.

Hey Stimp and Buckguy,

We have turkeys come into our pasture not even 200 yards from the house.
Come over and get you one here. AND BEFORE anyone says it,
NO they are not tame turkeys turned loose.

1 set her down and have a heart to heart talk
2 bribe her with candy corn
3 blindfold her and tie her to the nest

Nope it just happens when it happens as far as I know! Once they start you can isolate them and give them a clutch of eggs and they will usually jump right on them. They just have to get their laying out. Sometimes leaving the nest full of marked eggs will stimulate them.

crush a Tums in water and feed it to her. It's worth a try.

i use tums whenever their is an issue, with my finches and starlings too, it helps them relax too...
