You could try putting some "eggs" in a nest to help her decide to go broody in that spot. I used duck eggs that I blew out to encourage my girls to use the laying boxes insead of the floor. It worked for them.

Oh man!! Why 2 am? That seems like an odd shift. I have worked a few nightshifts, I make it til about 3 am then I start to crash!!

After the winter squishing and the mass drowning i have 2 cuckoo marans, 1 jersey giant and 1 LARGE turken left. I think the cuckoo is a roo because he is always trying to breed my little crippled hen.
Maybe a poops I can get some more cuckos from you or some eggs.

Yes judging Jr. High and high school Science fair projects can really be fun. There are some truely amazing kids out there.

I don't know why the youngsters go thru the phase of squishing each other. The best luck I'm having at getting them thru that stage is keeping them in smaller cages & pens until they get older. It's tough to do when you run out of space though ... which is where I'm at now. Not enough small pens and brooders or not enough time to feed & water all those pens and brooders.
