I am tired of not being at home and it is only gonna get worse! I get to go home for like 24 hrs and then I get to turn around and back track! If Mike doesn't want some birds I might make a drop off at Blanchard next Sat...

Al, Jack is doing great (he bought the peaches for me - no dummy there!). My feathered girly chicken birds are doing fine - I have been treating them to chopped chilled cucumbers every now and then when I find one in the garden that has hidden from me long enough to be too big for my purposes. They are happy clucks! Although like many other flocks, they aren't laying so great in this heat.

Poco - by my estimate, the Marans I got from you should start laying next in the next month or so - they are doing great.

Peaches, I hope you and Doc can connect soon.

Evening Al, good to hear you do know how to take it easy.

I have the skype downloaded to my computer, but, He doesnt have a computer with him. The only way we are going to be able to do that is if
he aquires a personal computer or can gain administrative rights to a computer.

I have faith that he will find a way to do that with you!!! AT least he has the phone & email.

I have been in Weatherford...and I am here again! I am taking part in a Science summer institute thingy. It is part of our Gear-up grant..I come to this...a couple other teachers go to oother deals and they give our school lots of money and we get to do fun stuff with the kids! We are learning fun stuff to do with the kids...they have these super seeds that go through a complete life cycle in like 20 days! Teach is playing Mendel!!!

I think we may be comming back next weekend. Got to get this little Taco baby to the daughter before she grows on us too! So how long does everyone stay a Marys on sat mornings? Wondering if I can get there from the east side og the state in time.

I ivomected all my birds today. Hopeing it will debug them. Only thing I worry about is the feather lice.NN will it get them or do I still need to dust for them?

Hi Al, Teach, Carah, Peaches, Les, oh crud I forgot who else was on BYC. Well hi to everyone I missed saying hi too.

Must remember to take hormone pills tonight.

Wait a minute what was I supposed to remember????

Anyway hope everyone is taking it easy in this heat. MMpoultryfarms, man you better slow down before you burn out. It is killer hot out there and a number of us on BYC can attest for what happens if you overdue it in the heat.

Well I have had two casualities from the heat. One of the white ameraucana pullets and an adolescent turkey poult.

Set a fan in the coop and the mister nearer to the grow out pen so the young ones can cool down if they start getting too hot. Been considering setting up a sprinkler or soaker hose but I am not sure they would use it. My place has lots to big trees and shade but it is still hot. I was also thinking of putting a reflective tarp over the top of the coop to help deflect some of the heat, but am not sure it will do any good. The coop has great ventilation but is in the sun from 12pm to 2pm. I just do not know. I was thinking about filling water/soda bottles and freezing them to put in the waterers. Has anyone tried this. The thought is is the water is cool they will drink more of it. Yes?

Peaches I wanted to apologize for not making it to the auction Saturday. Seemed like I went to bed hip deep in alligators and woke up even deeper. I will try to make it to the one on the 31st. I have so much that needs to get done and with the heat, can not motivate myself into getting it done.

I so like the cool stuff everyone is creating out of recycled stuff.

It warms my heart to see more people reducing by reusing. Most important steps in living green.
