Sounds like a project for which I probably won't have the patience or the room for culls. I think the showgirls are interesting looking, but hadn't previously desired to own any, since my birds free range and my success with keeping silkies alive in a situation like that, where they are bait on the ground for predators, has been about 6 months for each silkie. That is one reason I keep replacing them

Rebecca told me she is planning to obtain some show girls from you this week and if I were interested in showing quality birds, that would definately be the best way to get started - with already developed blood lines that have had the less desirable traits already bred out of them.

Hi Yall,

I have bought more baby guineas!!!!

Could not pass up 8 of them for $1 each at the Guy Rose Auction on Saturday mornings!!!

I also got Dakota a pair of Ornamental Frill pigeons for $10,

and a bunny for Heather for $2.50!!!!

I did sell 8 Bunnies to a Friend for $30 that day also so I came out pretty good I thought!!!

Jessie on the other hand was not impressed with my steel on the Guineas as we now have 23 guineas and 8 FL Cuckoo Marans in a brooder in the living room!!!!!

But hey !!! She loves me!!!!

Welll anyways she tolerated my PASSION FOR POULTRY!!!!!

On another note, (notice how I moved on out of the last subject!!!)

I am wondering if there are any of this group that is interested in Urban Foraging or Wild Foraging, if so please contact me at [email protected] with ideas, interest, info on tours or classes etc.... !!

Just saw something I've never seen before...

Went out to give everyone some fresh cold water. When I dumped out the OEGB Wheatens' water, Mrs. Wheaten ran over and immediately started pecking the mud. Apparently she got a little carried away and got water in her nose because she let out a series of the most hilarious little sneezes. Mr. Wheaten didn't know what to think and started hopping up and down and puffing up his chest. It's funny to me how even the littlest birds can have so much personality.

Graybear - congratulations on the score on the guineas. I don't know why, but even though I have more than enough for my own property, those are one bird that I always want more of . My guinea hen wasn't covering all her eggs very well (her co-workers kept laying additional eggs in the same nest also) so I put some in the incubator. They have been hatching a few at a time because they were all laid at different times. I just keep adding them to the chicks in the brooder.

I still find it difficult to refrain from buying more guineas at auctions however and am glad that they are selling for more than $2 each at all the auctions I attend so that I can resist them.

Glad to see that the temperature is DOWN to 98 degrees.
