Hey Teach, my favorite western/mountain man series is by William Johnstone, The Mountain Man series!!!! Check them out sometime, I love them, have read a lot of other authors also, love Lamar and Grey, if they are still any good, I have about 5 or 600 western paperbacks packed away in my storage shed in a big wood box, may not be any good now, have not opened it in a while, my favorite Lamar series is The Sacket series!!! I was just born about 200 years too late is all!!!! Have a great day yall. Lynn

Louis Lamar lived in Choctaw for several years growing up. Not too far from where I am sitting now. (About four miles). Just a bit or worthless trivia.

Hey Okies! It was so nice out today - I think it only got to 92 degrees or something here - but no rain. Lightning struck the big Tulsa City dump north of town last night and set it on fire, so I've been smelling fire and seeing smoke from that all day.

Hey Poco Pollo - tonight Jack and I ran some errands, and when he brought me home he went out and looked at the chickens in the run as I unlocked the back door. I heard him holler, "What happened to the little blue chickens?"

This question alarmed me, so I ran to the run and said "What?!! Are they not in there?!" I looked, saw them in the run, and said "They're right there."

He replied, "No - those are too big - it was just the other day you showed up with some little blue chickens."

They have really grown and are such a pretty color - I call them Bell and Bonnet. The cuckoo Marans I got from you at POOPS is almost full-grown, and her little comb and wattles are turning redder - she hangs out a little nearer me when I'm out there, so every once in a while I'll lean her direction to see if she shows any sign of squatting - I'm looking forward to seeing if her eggs are dark.

Betsy - I talked to my dad this afternoon. He asked me if I bought any of your keets, and I told him I didn't, since 15 of their guinea eggs hatched (although they've since lost 5 of those). He told me that "Mom wanted some fancy colors," and I said you had some of those. I asked if they wanted some keets and he said not right now. He asked me if you were one of my "Chicken Friends, like 'Henry' is" (referring to Teach) and I said yes.

Teach - Dad asked me about you - he wanted me to tell him what the acronym is for "our group." I said BYC for backyard chickens, but he said no - POOPS - what's that stand for? I told him we call it the People of Oklahoma Poultry Swap, and he had me repeat it so he could write it down. He said "Henry has a shirt..." So watch out...he may say something to you about POOPS if he remembers when you see him (and I also think he has your first and last name mixed up - so PLEASE don't tell him your middle name - you have three first names will just confuse him further!)

Friends, say a quick prayer for my dad please, if you would. He is having some back problems, and according to him it only "hurts when I walk, and sometimes I can't move my leg, but I'm getting around fine." Two doctors have told him he needs surgery QUICK - that he could wake up any day and not be able to walk. So of course, I'm concerned about him, but I think he doesn't want me to worry so he doesn't let on when he's sick or hurt. I told him I'd rather come out and help him finish the hen house and the new kennel quarters he's building - but if needed I'd come out and push his wheelchair, too.

Parents these days!

Kinda long winded aren't ya?

What kind are the blue chickens?

Will be praying for your dad.

My dad turned 81 today. I know he can still whoop me, although I try to not give him a reason to.

Teach Henry Roy ?

Hey - I have to make up for not posting at all yesterday (I think).

Happy Birthday, Monty's Dad!

The blue chickens I got from Poco Pollo/Coral are Marans. I bought a cuckoo Marans and a blue Marans pullet from her at POOPS, then after a couple of weeks I freaked out because I thought maybe the blue pullet might be a rooster, and she was so kind she offered to trade me a for-sure pullet for the maybe roo. Being the wise woman and expert chicken marketeer that she is, Poco Pollo brought a couple of cages with several pullets for me to choose from, so I ended up going home with more chickens than I planned, but I'm happy to have them, and they are very pretty, healthy clucks.

"Roy Lee Henry Beth's Chicken Friend" is Teach's full name - but you can change those first three names around in any order, according to my dad.
