Okies in the BYC The Original

Just got home from the hospital. Dad made it through surgery and is currently in ICU. The surgeon said it was a good thing they went to surgery or within hours he would have died. A 7 inch section of his large intestine where they reattached the small intestine died from either lack of adequate blood supply or something became infected....turned gangreen (rotten) and started to leak into his abdomen. The surgeon said it was so bad it fell apart in his hand and had it ruptured anywhere other than in surgery the outcome would have been lethal. So they took that out cleaned out everything and reattached to another part that they hope will be ok. His kidney's are showing signs of stress and his right lung is holding fluid. The doc said we are not even close to safe water right now and the next few days he will be extremely critical. The infection is still very bad and is all over his abdomen cavity. I came home to feed my critters and eat and sleep...the ICU nurse swore to me that they would call me with any changes good or bad. Thank you all so much for your prayers and support I appreciate it!

Stimp update - went by the hospital on my way home this evening and had a nice visit with Lou and Stimp. As Al previously indicated, Stimp has been moved out of SICU and to a regular floor. The good news is that he was well enough to be moved. The bad news is that he is no longer receiving as much individual time and attention from the Staff as he received in SICU and that has the potential to cause some new health problems.

Please continue to pray for both Lou and Stimp - Stimp has been in the hospital for more than 60 days - they are very tired.

Good Evening Everyone!

I haven't been on much because of a hectic schedule. I get up at 6am and I am ready for bed at this time.

Hope everyone is enjoying this cooler weather... I know I have..

I really enjoyed the cooler weather this morning - didn't mind at all that I had to put on a long sleeved shirt because a t-shirt by itself wasn't warm enough. Weed were easy to pull after the rain we got yesterday. I would have enjoyed "playing" outside longer if I hadn't needed to go to the office.

Please take care of yourself and get enough rest to stay healthy. Drink your orange juice and eat healthy so you can take care of everyone else in your charge.

It was definitely a lovely and (relatively) cool day. Unfortunately I had to spend most of it indoors catching up from my two days of near-total uselessness. Grayson's fever is gone, but now he is tired and cranky and will be going to bed early. He did get to come out with me and give some cabbage to the chickens. The buckeyes went wild for it. My main roo was pointing out the choicest pieces to his ladies and threatening to take a finger if I tried to interfere with it. Sometimes boys are just odd.

The only problem I can think of is that the large goose might hurt the smaller ducks. I even had a duck hurt by a too heavy duck before (got her hip out of joint

)

he is about the size of the pekin, so far there haven't been any fights-

on the two roos, i put shade cloth around the fencing, and that seems to have helped- never seen a roo do what this guy does, his girls lay an egg, so he has to go in the box and inspect every one and chortle and gurgle about it...

what is funny about these two- barney is a standard brahma, and captain must be a sixth of his size, not that he seems to realize that...
