Sorry I don't have a clue about what to offer inthe way of advice for you ailing bird but just a note though, I don't know how well it works as a wormer but, If I have hens I don't want to set eggs or go broody I add crushed red pepper to their feed and they won't go broody several years ago I had a flock of around 100 hens and only fed them the pepper once and none of them ever went broody in the two seasons I had them, I don't know how that works really but it does work so just a thought I wouldn't feed cayenne to any you might be wanting to set eggs at some point.

Al didn't say what kind of roosters he was taking to Blanchard and since Queen Peaches is downsizing her Buff Orphington hens, she may have roos also. And of course, the "go-to" person for locating almost anything is Michael Daugherty.

Thanks PnB, I sent Peaches a PM and if MD or Al reads this if you have or know of some PM me please :)

Sorry Bill No Orph Roo's, replaced by bigger and better boy's, but I kept some hen's from them and will shed some of those tomorrow. There should be a few at Blanchard but can't say for sure.

TJ's Na-Na]Beth - For the Tulsa State Fair - The check-in is
Friday afternoon and evening. They judge all
day Saturday and, if need be, into Sunday
morning, do their awards deal, and cage-out
is around 2:00 Sunday afternoon.
Thanks >>> Good luck to all that go... Will you all wear your chicken shirt?
Maybe next year we will be their with you.
I want to bring up Oklahoma County fair... They are very low on birds.

Matt - you might consider sending an email to BetsyOK since she raises and shows silkies (like Grace does) If it is a brain injury as suggested by Grace, there probably isn't much that can be done, except perhaps give her some baby aspirin, which might help any swelling. But Betsy might have some other advice.

ArtsyRobin does physical therapy on her birds and she might be able to suggest some sort of rehab program if there is an injury.

I had a runner duck a few years ago that was dragging herself along the ground and a physical therapist happened to visit and after watching the duck for a few minutes, told me the duck's back was likely broken, based upon her experience with people. If that is the situation with your daughters' silkie, you will have to make sure she has access to food and water without having to move, keep her clean, and hope that whatever is wrong heals itself.

Here's a previoius thread on BYC that will at least give you some ideas to try with him. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=188769

there
are several things that can cause the wasting away. A heavy infestation of lice or mites can be the culprit, and if so, if you've caught him in time, he can be cured. Avian leukosis is another, as is Mereks. One of the well-known slkie breeders had problems with avian leukosis awhile back. I inadvertently received two beautiful young birds from that source (not knowing there'd been a problem), and both rather suddenly showed those symptoms, and nothing I could do made any difference. I hadn't put them into the general population, though I'd had them awhile, but none of the rest became ill.

Hopefully, it is as simple as lice or mites. One bird in a flock can be heavily infested, with others having little or none.

There are so many things that can cause problems, we often don't ever find the cause. If others show similar symptoms, you might consider having the state vet do a necropsy, in case you need to treat others.

Good luck in any case.

fast question...
Annabell is taking her chickens to the small local fair
tomorrow. Lincoln county farm and feed told me some time
ago they had my leg bands. Went today and their were nothing
numbered at all... Just spiral pink or what ever. Now what?
Is their a band with numbers in the world for sale ??
