The Department of Agriculture sells them, but of course they are closed until Monday. Some of the folks who are certified testers may have them, but I have never purchased any - only the antigen for testing since I have not yet done any testing for a show. Sorry

Can you contact the superintendant of the show to see if that would be acceptable? I always thought the bands were to verify that the birds had been NPIP tested rather than for actual identification.

Update on silkie She seems to be doing better all perked up she still doesnt move but she is eating and drinking and holding herself up. We will keep a close eye on her and see if we cant keep breathing life back into her. I guess this is what I did all my studys on now its time to put that info to practical use. Who was I to assume I was beyond all the what if's. I will keep everyone posted. I think we can pull this thing threw and even if not It will teach me and my family first hands on how to take preventative measures. As for lice and mites I have treated the farm for it. however she seems free and clear of them. The more I watch the goose (the male) the more he goes into there home and bullys them out of there food and water when she goes and sits on her nest. Can I move her eggs or should I move the silkies. I have since put the male goose on lock up. But what if the male ducks decide to do the same? the silkies only get out a couple of hours a day I was thinking of moving them to an off the ground coop Closer to my office window so the geese can have there little green pasture to lay in? However I know the eggs wont be safe out there. and she nas never been confined to anything since a baby other then her pond area. if anyone has had geese experience Can I safely move her eggs? like chickens and will she then lay in that nest box or will she always want to lay in the tall sunflower pasture?

Evening folks! I spent acouple of hours this evening makeing sale cages again.Thinning out some more young birds. Mostly roos. Sooner or later I'll have to cull some pullets but sure hate to!

We have had a nice week of medium temps. Nights have been cool and morning dew is really heavy. Glad I got all my chicks penned up.

Going to the local livestock auction tomorrow. They sell a few birds and usually get fair prices for what I take.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

i am just playing catch up, so am not sure what measures you have taken- but- it took about 3 months for mine to work through leg issues, alot of causes- you've checked for mites and lice- have you bathed her? thats how i found the lice on my guy- because of their feathers, i couldn't see them- next, what feed and suppliments if any are you giving? silkies are prone to vitamind deficiencies, so it may be related to that- i'll backtrack the posts to see what you have-

King's Feed on Harrah road sells them but I don't know if they keep all sizes in stock.

Glad you recalled that. I knew they had the spiral plastic variety, but wasn't certain I had seen the numbered variety there (thought I did, but wasn't for certain)

ok, just finished reading what you posted on the silkie- if it were me- and i can say been there done that- bring her in the house, start feeding her extra- scrambled eggs, yogurt, things easy to digest. Give her poly visol vitamins( liquid infant vitamins with no iron) feel her legs, you may need to massage them, she will need to be rinsed periodically as she will get dirty, i need to go back and find the posts on when i was dealing with this in mine, but get vit e gel caps, put some on her beak twice a day as that will help if there is nerve damage- i'll post the thread on the specific care that i was advised on with my silky. Feel free to email me if you need to... you might want to make a swing for her to sit in to help her stand
