Thanks Al, I want to go to the sale tomorrow but doubt I'll get to make it, I am coming to Elgin tomorrow at noon to get some birds though, I just will need to have plenty of time when I get them home to get them all settled in the the new areas

Sorry to tell you this Bill, but a friend of mine was at Blanchard last night with a big cage full Buff Orphinton show roosters, they looked great and I thought of you when they were going through the ring, Oh yeah and they went really cheap.

Morning all : Had a good time last night @ Blanchard not many birds or people for that matter, but my Okie friends were there in force so it was all good. I brought several cages of birds to sell and some cages of pre sold birds. I can't believe I finally got a decent return on my birds, you know when you go to sell things are dirt cheap and buying is always high, well I faired better than expected and am very pleased. I was truely trying to make some extra pen space so most of what I brought was my best stuff and Good hen's and some exotic stuff too. DW will be surprised to find three empty pens today at feeding time LOL and some of her best girls missing.

Michael : One of the best times I had last night was watching that little bidding tactic on that Ole boy from TX, My cheeks hurt I was laughing so hard

Yup he be the one we are speaking of, I was rooting for Michael LOL. Yes we did miss your smiling face but the prices last night would not have been to your liking, your bid card would have had dust on it LOL. I only bought a aluminum feed scoop and 2 fishin poles for 10.00 not bad. I think Rebecca left her post hole diggers there so she would have another excuse to go back, very sly tactic hehehehe.

al6517- last night when leaving the Blanchard auction I almost went back and introduced myself to who, after a while, thought might have been you. I think we were talking briefly about the cage full of mile fluer D'Uccle roosters that my son and I were examining.

Would by any chance have been you?

Yes it was and I do remember you, You should have said something, don't be shy we as a group aren't LOL. Did you get any of those in that cage, I think I saw you making a bid, your boy is the spitting image............... good kid. You were talking about some fine show stock ones you got from a breeder in Washing state or Oregon is that right.

I knew I should have gone I was just too busy, does he still have any that you know of? I could contact him maybe to get some if he does

Update on silkie Well today after a long chat with Al and my kids I decided to cull the silkie. She couldnt open her eyes and when I tried to move her feathers from her face a milky watery substance came out of them she was hungrey but couldnt find her food and gasping for breath. A later Autopsy so to speak confirmed a broken back and possibly fractured neck. Lots of swelling to the brain and lots of fluid on the brain as well. it is in my best beliefs that the goose perhaps broke her back then the other birds picked on her while she was weak. we have made some movments with birds keeping all the toy foofoo birds a long distance away from the farm stock. Sad to see her go and Never have I had a problem culling till today But its done now and she isnt suffering anymore and we learned some new things for our preventative measure books for our family. thanks for all the support and great info and btw Had a wonderful night at the auction I only showed up to buy a few things from the bycers and put some birds in , they did ok I just got there to late.
Next time I am coming with a fist full of cash and I am gonna be spending it like it grows on trees so any bycers please let me know if I bid against you cause I will have my game face on.

Ok...the BF and I have decided on a 10 x 10 coop for now....my run is currently 16x16....thinking of extending that...not sure at the moment though. Although my predator proofing is moving along and should be completed soon...with my dad being in the hospital it has set me back a little. I'm hoping that this is plenty of room to house and run at least 30 birds. If my math is correct the coop should have plenty of room with a little room for additions...if my math is correct my run being 16x16 currently has 256 sq feet of room....divide 256 by 4 feet per bird that is 64...That seems like a really high number of birds in there. I'm missing something somewhere.
P & B---do the cochin girls need their own seperate run and house? they can run with the others right?

Also, I want to add a quarantine area to the coop. Can it be inside the same coop the others use or do I need that seperated somehow? Maybe a small room on the side or something? I don't know.

Thanks
Deedra
