A quarantine area needs to be somewhere away from your regular flock, since illness can be passed through poo and airborne bacteria.

Your cochins (which unfortunately are down to 2) can run with anything that is close to their size. They are about 8 inches tall right now.

I am not very good with chicken math - but in my experience, if they have sufficient room to roam during the day, you can put as many in the coop as you have roosting space. You just don't want to have too many in an enclosed area on a 24/7 basis.

Hello everyone, I am just catching up on posts.
Sorry I missed the auction and also the good friends that were there.
I planned to go but woke up yesterday morning feeling bad and just didn't have it in me.
I felt a little better yesterday evening and was wishing I had gone but then I started fading again.
Today hasn't been much better, spent most of it lying down but right now I must say I am feeling better than I have felt in a few days. I hope it lasts.
I think Al has the Midas touch if he got $28 for a polsih hen. In my brief stint with Polish, I could never get more than $10 on a bird and I had some really nice ones too.
Sounds like Al should have been buying Nachos for the house. I am glad you were able to make a buck ole buddy.

How long will it take us to get there. At one time I would have said three days but we have slowed down some with age.
Looking forward to everyone chatting it up just like back in the old days.

How long will depend on who shows up to chat!! Glad you are feeling alittle better Monty!!

Ivy I think P&B is telling us that all new chickens need to be kept in an area away from our flock until we are sure there isn't any illness in the new chickens.

I like Monty have felt bad all day yesterday & today, I haven't got much done since coming home from church.

check out Madison's river rumba race, she made the news, in the slide show she is the third picture & the video it is at the end.

ok, our coop is 8 x 4, with a 16 x 20 run for the standard fowl, we have 18 birds in there at nite, free range part of the day, will the coop size work for them, they all have roost space- now we are starting a banty run and coop- getting ready for winter, what size do they need, for now i have 5 banties.... they are completely contained- no free ranging for them

As long as they have sufficient roost space that they aren't fussing with each other over space at night, sounds like you have sufficient space for the LF. I will let someone else respond regarding bantams since I don't have much experience with them.

Only from swimming, their boat held together for two races with alittle help from some duct tape repair before the second. She had areally good time.

sounds like they need to become engineers if they can create a cardboard boat that holds up that long. Thank goodness for duct tape - the all American cure for anything that moves when it shouldn't
