I was just at the auction and met up with some lovely BYC peeps! I didn't stay long cause i was exhausted but it was nice to actually be able to go somewhere other than school or the hospital! Next time I plan to stay longer!

Sharpie markers have never hurt any of my hatches. I have always used them because I can see the mark even when the eggs are under a broody hen. They tend to get dirtier than in a incubator. I also like them better for broody ducks because they really mess their eggs up.

Evening Poopsters, we separated chicks from moms today, neither were real happy about it, took 8 babies all total from three hens and put them in a rabbit cage, got to worrying about the cats getting to them from the outside of my cage set up even though they are inside the big chicken pen they are hung on the outside walls of it. sooooo we put up some wood panels, still not happy with it but I just went out and checked on them and they are all roosting on top of the carrier I left in there for them or on the rabbit feeder. So how did the auction go? I would really like to make the Blanchard sale more often but it is a three hour drive for us, will try to make the Fletcher auction on the 18th but will have to see how it goes. We loaded up a load of long steel today, will load more tomorrow and separate some brass, copper and aluminium to take in to sell Monday morning when we go to Perry to enter jellies and photos and stuff in the fair(Noble Co. fair)then we enter the chickens, pigeons and rabbits on Tuesday evening. Need to get some plum, jalapeño,and apple jellies made tomorrow sometime. going to be a busy week around here. Have a good night all, Lynn

A wax pencil works well - remember those pencils that had like a crayon in the middle and you unwound the wrapper, one level at a time, to expose more of the wax pencil writing surface? I have also seen them called a "china marker"
Look at the "sharpie" to see if it says it is non-toxic. Some permanent markers indicate that they are non-toxic and I use those on my eggs. Carla and Gerald, from whose eggs I have always had a good hatch rate, use the wax pencil for marking even the darkest maran eggs (then I mark them with a non-toxic sharpie with the date I put them in the incubator)

It was really nice to meet you. I will keep you and your dad in my prayers. Be sure to take care of yourself - stay well hydrated and get some sleep.

Those wax pencils will mark on anything and it takes an act of God to get it off...I would say a good choice!

Sigh I forget so many names theres so many of you. Peaches, You and Doc are awesome. Everytime I see you I wish there was 1000 more like you expecially when I was younger. So If I didnt mention your name I know the face Just probably was talking to much as usual LOL. but was good talking with each of you. Al, Since I love your sense of humor and the way you don't coat anything for me with sugar. ( down to the point) One thing I learned about Al I must confess. If you did something stupid and you know it deep in your heart! Don't tell Al if you can't handle constructive critasizm. You have a comedian demenor. Yet when its time for Chicken talk you put your game face on and you know your stuff and very many BYC'ers can learn alot from people like you. You have as I say your hand in the cookie jar, Peanut jar, Candy jar, and pretzel jar.

It was great to meet those people that I was able to! I enjoyed talking to you! Sorry I probably looked as ragged out as I felt...a couple days of dismal sleep and worry does that to a person! I came home and ate and stopped and got the orange juice

and am drinking it. I took a hot bath and even exhausted still not able to sleep....I hate insomnia. I am hoping that i will wind down soon and drift off....Everyone was so great there I wish I could have stayed longer but was just to overwhelmed and tired next time though I hope to stay longer.

Had fun visiting at Blanchard this evening. It was fun to put a face with Sgtmkt1 and okracefan and Ivyblaze. As always, I enjoyed visiting with Michael Daugherty, Muesky, Queen Peaches, OkCarla and EggMan, Al, Buckguy, MMPoultry, and Jerry and Jim.

MMPoultry - the smoked chicken within a chicken that you brought for a BYC snack was totally awesome. It had a great flavor, beautifully colored skin and was very moist.

Monty - thank you for the EE roo. He has a beautiful color.

Carla, thank you for Jaxon's bantam rooster. Jaxon loved him, although he had me carry the cage after the roo tried to peck at him through the cage

Good night Ivy. If you have any raw honey in the house, eat about a tablespoon of that before bed and it will help you sleep better. You can put it in some hot tea, iced tea or on some toast, but it will help you get a good night's rest - if you can get your mind to move into a slower gear.
