I have a great idea for you K!

Get an ingloo dog house for rain and nights.

Attach a dog's play pen to it. When old
enough to 'fly' out over the top, simply
clip their wings.

I've done this with birds that I want
pure-breds from and have successfully
kept them from the other birds and
they are happy!

Hope this helps the kid in ya!

See, the problem I'm facing is when we go to show the house. Most people would see a chicken setup and immediately decide the house isn't for them. And we are going to be moving then because we will (hopefully) have a baby and have outgrown our current house. And I know my inlaws wouldn't take care of my birds, nor would any friends so I couldn't just move them while we are showing the house.

*sigh* Being an adult does, on occasion, suck.

Here it is............spring has sprung.

GoldRose, I am in Chickasha! I go to the Cement auctions. I've got that lot of Cochin chicks for sale right now, and will have more chicks in time for the next Cement auction. PLEASE come buy the Cochins! *ha*

Petlove, that picture is awesome! Looks like a greeting card, did it really come from your yard? *ha*

Krysstyllanthrox, I know how you feel.

Not quite the same for me, but we are moving into town. I will be leaving my chickens in the country. I feel like I'm abandoning children. *haha*

Grace, YES I got the eggs!!!

Yes, countryroad1330, the flowers are in my yard. The people that owned the house before me planted bulbs everywhere. I am now finding out where. I loved all the pics of your chickens. Who is going to care for them after you move?

Okiechick, It was great meeting you and your friend at the Harrah auction. I wish I had brought the Spitzhaubens you have been wanting. I need to see first if the guy that said he wanted them actually buys, and if not I'll bring a pair to the next Harrah auction in a couple of weeks. I intend to bring some spitzhauben, brabanter and ameraucana/mix chicks then too. Oh, and I'm so glad you bought the other dozen white silkie hatching eggs! I think in hindsight I should not have bought the eggs as back-up bidder, and then re-bid, to get them at a lower price. Oh well, live and learn!

Carla,

After you've been to as many acutions as I have, you get pretty quick at figuring out the next move. You have to read the other bidders and know the auctioneer's habits.
That's why a couple of weeks ago, when I bought the incubator I bid more than the starting bid. The previous one took 25 to buy, so when they called for 20, I just bid 25 so no one would bid against me. It works great by the way

Picked up some very nice buff laced polish at the Afton swap. It was cold and sleeted a bit so I'm sure it was way down for attendance. I'll be back!

Jimd, Buff Laced Polish are so pretty!

Okcarla, did you get white Silkie eggs? Or just Okiechick? I am so jealous!

Grace, thanks for all of the advice. For the Call's sake, I'm hoping our remodeling takes an extra week for the extra incubation. *haha*

Petlove, those are Daffodils aren't they? How fun to get them by 'suprise.' I think I would like to plant some at our new house.

After our move I will still be taking care of my chickens. Its only a 20 minute drive to where they are now. We have a cattle lease that is pretty close to where we're moving. If we can find a good spot, we will probably move the chickens out there.

Today is the first day in a week that I have NOT run a fever. *yay!* I'm feeling much better, and actually got back to the wedding planning today.

Okie16, that chick could be not as feathered because of it's breed or because it has had a lack of protein (which would mean it has had a lack of food, so you need to watch and be sure it gets enough to eat and drink).

Cammie, glad you are finally feeling better

And, no problem on the advise for Duck eggs
