Went out to shut the door on the pen and I heard a noise in the trees and something flew away, noticed an object on the ground. Upon further investigation and taking inventory of my birds that it either a hawk or owl had been dining at one of my birds expense.

My two partridge cochin hens are the same way. I call them Thelma and Louise. They have a lovely coop. Their rooster goes in by himself every night. They prefer to roost on the peak of the roof. Guess I'll be escorting them in every night when the temps get lower. I,ve been shutting them in for 6 weeks. Everybody else gets the hint after about a week. Their coop is in a covered dog pen so I don't really have to worry about predators, just the weather.

Les,
I noticed as I was testing some birds this afternoon that my NPIP antigen is in need of replacement. I will call Marie in the morning, but do you know whether the Dept of Ag ever got the issue regarding selling the smaller size bottles of antigen "resolved"?

Ours is out of date as well and I need to get some more, it was Kansas that was having the issues. As far as I know we can still get the 250 dose bottles here.

Our oldest celebrated her 30th birthday this weekend. It was nice to get together with family from Tulsa, Yukon, and Bartlesville. I made two flan for dessert, and our daughter insisted that because it was a birthday dessert, it was calorie free. With all the eggs, milk, sugar, and creme I used, I'm sure we'll be walking off our celebratory custard for the rest of the week.

Besides chickens, what do possums like to eat? I need to trap the rest of the possum gang terrorizing my chicken yard. This snarling snooter killed a full sized rooster. I put a trap inside the pen and one outside, and actually caught the fiend in the trap that was inside the pen. I put dog food, strips of bologna, and some over-ripe banana in the trap, but it doesn't look like he ate any of it.
