wdmyers, The link you included is no longer valid.

But that definition also has definitions. Such as a chicken owner is not technically considered to have a production facility unless they have a minimum of 1000 birds. That's what I've heard anyway.

Where abouts in OK are you located? Myers was my maiden name.

Not sure what happened with the link... This is where I found the bill.

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-875

If that does not work go to www.govtrack.us and search for HR 875.

I think in the state of Oklahoma you are right. You can process and sell less than 1000 chickens a year if they were raised and processed on your property, with out being inspected by the state. I just don't like some of the language in the law. It sounds very broad. Maybe it will not be an issue. I just don't like it.

I grew up in East Tulsa/BA/Catoosa. I live in Mannford now.

You have NOOO idea how much I wanted to get just one modern game hen...LOL!

It's probably for the best that I didn't though...I now have that blue Langshan in my apartment and you wouldn't believe how much better she's doing! LOL! She actually bit me today!

Forgot to ask...since the Champ. LF was between me and an Araucana...does that mean that we both won that area??

ETA (again): Thank you for the compliment! I was REALLY excited! I thought my birds didn't stand a chance at LF when those Araucanas showed up! LOL!

Happy Monday Okies! How many of you are recuperating from the weekend weather? All the snow in my part of Tulsa is nearly melted, and yesterday I started putting the roof shingles on the hen house I'm building. Yeep!

I may have, I think he is just telling us it he that runs the weather show around here. It looks as though it will be like this all week long, good luck at the doc, Going for your knee check-up??.

Just Bill's thoughts on swapping out the chicks and putting
more eggs under the hen.......He says she wouldn't live
much over a week. Says she has done without tooo much
the past three weeks in her efforts and to immediately
go again would be way tooooo much.

We've got the second Langshan chick. So, looks like they're
going to hatch just fine. Tons of EEs and Cinnamon Queen/EEs
crosses due next week. Co-op here can't keep chicks, so
think it's about time for me to put a note on their bulletin
board. I don't intend to keep but about six of each kind
of laying birds. Most of our hens are just now a year old.

Have a good one !

I totally agree, it seems to me that the hen would severly depleted, But then again I have heard from some of broodies who just continue and go & go, I wonder how they do it.

Those continuos broodies require more work...folks will put them in a cage type nest box thingy and have water and food for them close by....or something like that...they were talking about it but I looked once and didn't go back cuz it didn't sound that cool to me but to each their own...I do stuff I know others think is wrong

wdmyers- welcome, you aint that far from me in Morrison, glad to have ya, come on to Poops it will be fun. Al it sure is windy here in the land of the Cowboys today!!!! Have erands to run, yall play nice while I am gone, Lynn

My hen turned out to be a great mommy...She is so cute showing them how to eat and drink...clucking softly all the while. Needless to say I didn't do the plant eggs thing. Too much for my little mommacita in there. I made a brooder thing and moved them so the chicks have room to run around and flap their mini-wings. I ended up with 2 black and 2 buff. And they are 2 cute. If the weather stays good and Mrs. Squeaky stays calm I will leave them in the office for a couple days them set up the brooder in the coop... maybe wed or thurs. Mike thinks they are all his....LOL... till it's time to clean up poop, then he mysteriously disappears

(Did you hear the one about the lady who mistook her birth control pills for Valiums...? she has 20 kids now but she doesn't care)
