Good Morning Okies!

We are going to try to make Harrah Auction. How do you get there? We will be coming from I-40 and Harrah rd. Or an address would work great if anybody has that.

I was told to go North on Harrah Rd to Hwy 62 and then go East to County Line Road. At County Line Rd, go South about 1 mile and there should be signs directing you to the auction.

Where's poultry shows or auctions that people gather at? I live in Foster. It's about 25 miles S.W. of Pauls Valley.

I plan on getting them NPIP tested but was waiting because it's my understanding that once you do this it's void if you bring new birds into your flock. Which I assume also means eggs that become chicks.

I am planning on buying some silkies and showgirls from Elite Silkies probably in March since she is coming to Elmore to see a mutual friend. (SonRise Silkies.) They both have really nice silkies. A few of mine came from them and I also bought a pair of lavenders from Bren's Birds of Paradise at the Chicken show that was at Shawnee. It was the first (my only one) that I've been to.

Who knew there were so many breeds! Some were as big as my boxers! I really enjoyed it. I wish now that I'd have bought a white runner drake for $10. That was cheap. Maybe next time.

Right now I have black, brown, silver, white, and fawn and white runners (most of them carry the crest gene). But they all run together. Someday I hope to have runs for them so that I can seperate by color. I'm sure they'll be unhappy when that happens because they get to run free during the day now.

Here is the link to the Oklahoma Auctions we know about

Do you sometimes advertise your runner ducks on Craigslist? I have previously looked up Foster on the map, because of being interested in poultry advertised there.

Once you have a NPIP flock, you are not supposed to bring in any non-NPIP poultry and mix it with your NPIP flock. Several of us have gone to the class at the Department of Agriculture to become certified testers, so we can test any new birds we acquire before adding them to our flock when their quarantine time expires (as you know, it is always a good idea to quarantine any new birds for 3-4 weeks before adding them to your flock, so you don't accidentally introduce illness to the old flock.)

Personally, we've opted not to ask for our NPIP # though we've met the testing requirements for our state several times over. I went ahead and became a certified tester. You might consider it, there are several on here that are. I'm glad I did it. We can get birds/eggs from non NPIP and I can just test them myself while they're still quarantined. My kids show and anymore it seems many are going to testing within 90 days anyways.

sorry to hear about your losses. There used to be a guy from OK on ebay that sold nice looking cabinet style incubators for I want to say something like $125. They were built for using the LG turners. Don't see any right now. I hope he's just taking a break vs quitting. Maybe somebody on here knows who he is.

Ooooh...here's a nice one. http://cgi.ebay.com/Instant-Incubat...961?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aa36e8461 For those impatient one's.

Good morning everyone! I hope all is well.
For those wanting to go to the Harrah auction it is off of the beaten path.
If you make it into the town of Harrah, highway 62 runs East from about the middle of downtown. You will cross over a bridge and then go a little over a mile. You will pass a little country bar and then a sand pit.
Then about a quarter of a mile or so is County line road. Turn South on it and go one mile. The road will make a jog there but a dirt road continues south.
Stay on it for a little ways and you will find the auction barn. You will see the barn but you have to go past it and then cut back to get to it.

If you are coming from I-40 on Harrah Road, just keep going North until you are in downtown Harrah. You will see a grain elevator and the turn to hwy 62 is just past it a block or so.

Hey that sounds like a good idea. How do you go about becoming a tester and what does it cost?

Yes I was posting my runners for sale on Craigslist. At one time I had about 70 and my husband said I had to cut back. (Feed bill was too high:) I'd list some. Then wait and list some more. Now I'm down to about 25 and I really should cut back some more. But, I just hate parting with any of my critters.

MiMi, We will get you added to the list. Our list director is a busy lady being the center of a 50 mile radius and what not. But she will get you on there.
I think the auctions closest to you would be in Fletcher, Cement, Blanchard and Newcastle.
I know you said you are southwest of Pauls Valley.
