A complete disaster. I traumatized everyone by botching the first two turkey kills, the first one badly. I had sharpened the axe but apparently not quite enough. Or maybe it was the stump I was using. Or maybe my axe swing isn't what it used to be.

We got mostly done, but it was a lot colder and windier than the weather liars said and I ran out of steam. I think we got through about 4 turks and 12 or 14 chickens. There are still some Cornish Cross we need to do, but those we will get as soon as Jason comes back from the field.

The turkeys are out of the way at least.

P&B the day was an interesting fair... BUT DONT LISTEN TO BUSTER

I swear the devils were out to cause havoc on this butchering day... but I wasnt going to let it..

I woke up this morning very sick... achy, dry heaving, and coughing up a storm.... the lil ones(we have our previous clan back..the girls) yep all three... decided it was going to be a whiny screamy kinda day... just as buster and his beloved wife(LOVE HER... she is so kind and funny... and very smart btw) were pulling up in our drive....Jason accidently ran over Claire our GP pup... which resulted in him and Aleisha taking a 911 visit to the vet.

I tried to get involved with the process but my body was just not into it.. so I came in the house and crashed and just woke up now...

BUSTER: I am so sorry I was of no help today... I hope to be of better service next time... and I think you did just fine with the turkeys and what not.. Jason says the turkey pen looks kinda naked...ha ha too late to bring back the birds now... HA HA HA

Jeannie - hope you are feeling much better tomorrow. It is good that you were able to get some sleep.

Buster, it sounds like you and your better half were heroes today and did a full day's work under less than desirable weather and children circumstances.

You have found a wonderful group of folks who either live in Oklahoma or wish they lived in Oklahoma.

Perhaps someone else will have Ron Smith's phone number, but in the meantime, you might check with Yonderoak or SJarvis00 since both of them raise Old English. There are others as well, but since I don't "speak bantam" I am not even certain what you are looking for except that I am guessing it is tiny.

I started the day chasing roosters and I finished tonight the same way.
Jared and I finally tracked down and caught the one that escaped this afternoon.
He was hiding in a brush pile and had no idea he would probably be coon chow by morning.
He was a worthy adversary but no much for the "Chicken stalkers!"

Just got back from Blanchard. We didn't stay till the end ovbiously. They might be still going. It was nearly 7:00p.m. before they got to selling chickens. There were alot of nicely bearded Ameraucanas, no blues that i saw though. there were some Naked Necks including an amazing multi-color NN Frizzle Roo with quite a tail.
Got to talk with Lou, Stimpy and Grace, Peaches Michael D. and briefly with Al.
Only a couple of Cochins to tempt me. I think Peaches got the little Barred Roo.

Hey I think I forgot to mention earlier that I got to see you and your other half at the swap this morning.
Sorry about that. I am kinda fried. I am getting ready to hit the showers and then the mattress.

Thats O.K. We weren't there long, missed Mary Beth. I got too tempted by the Harlequin bunnys. I try to not look at Rabbits. I used to have a house rabbit and they are really fun pets but now - NO, and that is me saying that , not my DH. I know my limits so I just don't linger on rabbits.
