Hi Woomy, glad to have ya!! jump right in make yourself at home, I think the nametag thing is a great idea!!!! Have you tried cutting a spounge and fitting it in your water tray and then you could tip the incubator and it should not run out??? maybe??? just a thought, Lynn

Oh and Sonya, I was thinking of setting up an aquarium with some Button Quail in it in the house myself but have not tried it, we had all kinds of birds in the house at one time or other so I would think as long as you clean the cage regularly it would be fine, was thinking sand in the aquarium for the bottom, Lynn

Hey that could work! I have to move the larger eggs to the middle of the carton to keep them from being to close to the heating element! What was i thinkin getting so many eggs?

Sonya, don't know if I will get it done but wanted to, I have two 30 gallon aquariums of goldfish now and we need to make room for a small couch and chair now so don't know, was kinda thinking of useing a 50-100 gallon aquarium for the button quail and make a room devider behind a couch wetween the living room and dining room but will have to see how it goes. I have lots of glass so have thought of making an invironment to my own dementions, Lynn

KT :

A heat lamp will not hurt but mom will handle things. on the other hand I think you should bring them inside set them up on a nice big pink feather filled silk pillows in the center of ya'lls bed. Play soft soothing music to them and lay out a dish of caviar and champaine so they can eat and drink in the style for which they have become accustomed to. ROFLMAO hehehe, did you honestly think I was gonna let you off the hook?? silly woman.

Thanks! Yeah, usually my migraines include eventually hugging a toilet before it's all over, but I kept taking pain pills and allerrgy pills and rolaids. Luckily this time all the pills kept the pain dulled and the nausea down. The prescription pain pill probably helped the most & probably contributed to my mental stuper I was in. I was definitely under the influence of pain & pain med 's yesterday.

Yeah, I think most of our eggs only went for around $3 a dozen, which is better than a lot of other hatching eggs went ... most of them around a dollar. Gerald sells brown eating eggs at work for $3 a dozen ... so to sell our marans & welsummer hatching eggs for the same price is really disappointing, especially since my marans came from top breeders around the country.

No, I don't think I've met KT & Mike ... at least I can't remember ... I guess the Alzheimer's & dementia that I'm inheriting from my mom could be kicking in. I think the only people I talked to yesterday were you, and then a lady came and asked me about my birds one time that I ventured out of the truck. I figured I'd better stay in the truck when I couldn't even carry on a conversation with anyone.

I told Gerald last night that if our birds & eggs don't sell better than that, we should just get rid of them. Our feed bill is over $100 a week, and we only cleared $68 dollars at the auction last night. We took 16 dozen hatching eggs and 20 birds, and it takes an hour to drive to Cement.

I guess I'm sort of bummed out today .... still not feeling too great. I'd like to go back to bed & have a good cry, but the incubator is full of chicks that hatched & I have to find a place to put them and then go feed everybody.

Gerald is out with a friend of his playing with their big green army trucks ... so I guess the critters have to rely on me only today.

Carla, just take it easy today and don't over do it, if I was closer I'd come help you do chores, my wife had a migraine thur. and could not go to work so I know how you feel, just try to stay warm and take it easy, Lynn

Anyone have buttercups I think I have a pair and I wanted to see what 5-6 week old combs look like. I posted pics on the sex and breed page but, they guessed GLW. I don't know what a rose comb looks like at 5-6 weeks old either. Can you guys and gals help me?

Also, do you know what their temperament is like? These 2 birds are the friendliest ones I have they fly right out of the brooder box to me and greet me every time I put food and water in.
