OK I got it. I have been searching the search feature but didn't get the right word combo. Now I got it. Instead of tilting the entire bator as I am doing just tilt the carton inside the bator. going to do that.

The only reason I have them in the carton is I got alittle happy buying eggs!

Thanks, everybody. We did alot better than I was expecting to do. I like the Chupps auction, but we have to get up sooooo early to get there. I like to set up in the first few rows, but rarely make it in time.

The wind was blowing like crazy again this month. It blows dirt in your face and eyes. My eyes are real red this morning. I like to go out in the field where they have 5 auctions going on. Things don't sell as cheap as they used to. I haven't bought anything the last few trips. I'm trying to get rid of the junk I already have.

I have a friend who likes to go to the Durant sale. I've never been to it. I think I'll try it the nest time. We really don't have that much interest around here. My friend would like to start a poutry auction around this area, but there would be alot of cost in doing that, and not sure if the support would be there.

I sure am gabby this morning. Better let my fingers rest, they aren't used to this much typing. Have a good day.

I have heard the Durant auction is pretty good, always alot of birds and decent turnouts.

I think you did pretty well, Cement was a little disappointing. Good crowd, very few birds. Ton's of hatching eggs, and several nice incubators all of which were PO'd. just a few hens but they brought decent $, mostly Roosters. Carla (bless her heart was out for the count with a terrible Migrane headache), Her eggs and birds she brought seemed to do well. I did not buy as there was nothing I wanted, Carla brought my Maran trio and I bought 56-18 pk egg cartons for .16 cents ea, yeah I am such a big spender LOL.
I got a chance to sit with KT & Mike AKA Hennypennies, and we had a nice visit which is always fun with these two. We talked about how much we are looking forward to POOPS.

Yeah, I'm back among the living now. I will not let Gerald talk me into going somewhere when I have a migraine again! Even in the parking lot all the sounds and light & wind & every little thing makes a migraine worse. I stumbled out of the truck a few times to look at what was for sale, but when people talked to me ... I'm sure I sounded like I was drunk or something ... it is had to carry on a conversation when having a migraine. Anyway, I'm doing a little better today. Al, I hope Gerald picked out the cuckoo's ok. He said he grabbed one with a comb and 2 without, so hopefully they're a trio.

We took 7 cages of birds with us to Cement, and sadly the bird prices were very bad for us. Most buyers had already gone home when our birds came up. I don't know if we'll take any there again. Gerald didn't PO any birds, which I SURE WISH HE HAD pulled out all of them & we could have eaten our birds before selling them for those prices! I had a nice black copper and a wheaten marans rooster that sold for $1 each. (I paid $25 each for black copper chicks and we sold one really nice rooster for $1!) We had some younger marans and Welsummers that were about 6 weeks old that only sold for .40 cents each. I'm really upset about that. I should have gone with my first instinct Saturday morning when I woke up with the migraine and told Gerald to forget about the auction. Or, I should have at least been in the building when our birds came up and PO'd my birds. I'm really disappointed! I think I might just sell my birds on craigslist from now on.

You would really like them, some of the best things about them I think, is the variety of foul and misc things such as Hatching eggs, chicks, and feeders/waterers/cages/bators all things poultry. You get to visit with some knowledgable poultry folks, learn things and just have fun being surrounded by folks that have come together for the same common purpose.

Carla :

I stand corrected Gerald said they did ok. I hope your headache is gone, I felt bad for ya seein you in such a bad way, if I felt that way I would have stayed home, your a die hard I'll give ya that. Everybody did seem to be a little tight fisted last night, but the wholesale buyers & auction Rats seemed to be happy with that, as I saw their trailers were full, go figure.Did you get a chance to say hi to KT & Mike, I did not see Sam there either.

Good morning...er...afternoon, everyone. It sure has been windy this weekend. The girls chickened out of sleeping in the tent last night around 2am when storms started coming through.... Just when the coop was starting to dry out again...now its a swampy mess again.

Sooner, I don't even put water in the troughs in the bottom of my bator..I use wet sponges laying on the wire and just soak them as they dry out. This time around I used the top of an egg carton instead of the bottom and the eggs are laying on a tilt in the carton top and I'm tilting them back and forth by hand. I think next time I might try just elevating the bator back and forth to reduce opening the bator so much. One more week to go and my little easter birdies will be hatched.

I took the think out from under it and now tilting just the carton itself. I don't have room to even add a sponge! I'm telling ya' I lost my mind when I started buying eggs. Right now I am scambling to see about building a bator for the eggs that are coming Monday......I might get lucky with my little hen if she will settle in the Coop since she lost her eggs. I am so sad about that. Hubby feels horible.

Hi Woomy... welcome to the asylum!!! Hope you have fun here..... It is a great bunch of folks....

Al....I told you it was a kick when they start hatching...

I was up until 4:00 am...was pretty wired after A huge coffee on the way out and Cement and eating so late. Spent a lot of time praying and reading my Bible...It was kinda nice. Haven't been making a quiet time for myself to decompress... maybe that's why I feel so overwhelmed all the time. So going to try to do that as a habit....LOL... Maybe I will be more sane.

The wind is really starting to piss me off... and now it's supposed to freeze? Will a heat lamp on the Squeak family in the coop be OK or do I need to bring them in (shut up, AL) until it goes by.....If those things froze I would cry....(Hush up, Al)...
