Buttercup it is. WAHOOO! they have brownish legs and the comb as a little on is shaped like a v with lots of bumps. If you look at my post on last one for now in the breed and sex thread you can see what it looks like. Thanks

Wow - I just looked up pictures of a buttercup comb - funky! You have a rare cluck, andisgarden!

Okay you guys: if you're on the list to go to POOPS I'm making you a name tag with your screen name and your real name below it. You can PM me if you want to give me your real names and I'll include them on my dossier and file them along with all my other info under "Crazy Chicken People." I'll make tags for family members if you'd like to give me those names, too. Otherwise I'll just bring tags with your screen name printed and you can write in real names underneath at POOPS.

Dang - it's getting colder.

Dang you guys haven't been that talkey! Usually takes lost more time to catch up than that! Just for the record...wind sucks

Sonya - button quail will work in the house expecially if you set something up like what Greybear mentioned. BUttons are a blast to watch. I would not due it with coturnix they poop way too much...not sure about the bobs

Big Green Army Trucks?

Did I mention I hate the wind and have been out in it. Traded a goat for 5 roosters today. Before I take them to the auction in Dodge...anybody want some RIR roosters or Barred Rock? They are barely hatchery stock if you know what I mean

Thanks Lynn, I appreciate that offer!

Gerald was nice & when I invited him & his army truck buddy in for a fancy tuna helper lunch, he told his friend that he was going to go feed the chickens after they ate & then he'd get back to working on the trucks just as soon as he was done feeding! That was sure nice of him! So, I've been lucky to stay inside most of the day and clean house or make an attempt at it.

Gosh I hate this cold weather. I'm sure the birds hate it worse. I think we're going to get below freezing tonight & tomorrow night?

I worked on the coops for my new birds today after church. They are laying already! The new belgian quail is a mean little stinker, flogs everytime your head is turned!Another silkie hatched off,9 out of ten eggs, and the 10th one died after piping6 little ee bantams and three silkies, the ee's are so cute and colorful. Moved an ee hen to the broody pen, will set her in a few days on new eggs. It was almost 70 here today, now we are haveing storms and snow is forecast for tomorrow! Almost as crazy as OK weather. Hope the snow and cold doesn't last long,we are about two weeks ahead of eastern ok as far as stuff growing and blooming.

Hey Carla I see you won some eggs, I won a bid on some Blue Americaunas,

I am excited, I sure hope I can raise some out of all the eggs I have had sent to me in the mail, I got some welsummer and marans eggs and had three broke in the box but that is the only one so far to have damage, I think I have about five dozen eggs in the incubator and out so far, maybe more counting all my own, IT SURE IS ADDICTING !!!!!

So Stimpy what does that do to your breeding plans this year??, do you have a back-up plan??.

AL

It hurts, but nothing I can't overcome. She would have been a definite asset to the program, but I have others. I have a few more young birds coming up that I am pretty proud of too. I'm just waiting for it to warm up a tad so I can set up some more pens.

They say you shouldn't kill something unless you intend to eat it. So, does anyone have a good recipe for owl?

-Stimp-

Sadly I'm about to tell my mom sorry, but we are unable to get any silkie hens at this moment in time, we have foundd one person that has a Silkie, but he lives in Missouri. I don't think I'd be able to make a trip like that for one hen

....
Anyways, good night all!

Everyone must of been busy today, didn't take too long to get caught up with the reading.

Stimp, you can just have owl soup. My mom always told me everything new was chicken so you can pretend.

Buying eggs has become an addiction for me. I had to stop! I have spent the afternoon getting started on making a home made incubator. I should have it completely put together tomorrow evening when I get home.

I have also decided on the plans for the new coop so it is time to get materials together.

If the wind doesn't stop blowing I may never get anything done.
