Well I am finally in the chicken business. Well maybe "business" would be a little bit of a stretch. I went to the Chupps auction Saturday. I meet chickens 4 2 there. They are both very nice folks. I ended up buying from them. It was my first bird auction and I didn't really want any grown birds this go around. chickens 4 2 had some good looking stock so I just hung around over there until their birds started selling.

I ended up with 20 bared rocks, 20 assorted chicks, and 20 cortunix quail. They are all doing very well warm and snug in the brooder. Those quail grow fast. I have only had them a few days and it almost seems that they have doubled in size. I thought I had some cages that would work for quail but I think the wire may be too large. I will have to build a couple of cages with 1/2x1 wire. Looks like I need to do that fast because these suckers are growing out of control.

If you wait long enough on those quail one of two things will happen...1) they will get big enough so the wire you have will work or 2) they will all escape so it doesn't matter!
