Hola Peeps

I have good news.... the vet said Roger did not need to be put to sleep... He gave him a shot and said he thinks he was poisoned by the Big Mac he stole from me Sunday night. He said that would be hard on a dog with a good gut, much less one with a bad gut. He prescribed 1oz. of butter milk daily as well as his regular medicine. (?) He said it sounds weird, but sometimes really makes a difference. I got him drinking electrolytes this morning... and he just ate dinner. I hope he keeps it down. He kept breakfst down. The vet said he will go on barfing streaks all his life.... and some will be worse than others. (this one was bad) He was running a low grade fever of one degree and had lost a pound since his last visit in september....I bawled all the way home hugging him tight... I have been bawling for 2 days....I have a headache that would make a hangover look good. I forgot to take my medicine so my pipe is roaring! Poor mike he spent all day digging a hole to bury Roger in. He was out there whistling while he was filling it back up..... I am still stressed. It was 83 out here today with a wind. My lips have never been so chapped! Wind! Will it ever end?

Good evening Okies! Hope yo all are warming up. Its cold here. My yard looks spooky whith everything covered with sheets to keep away the frost tonight. Hard freeze warning. Apples are in full bloom, and strawberries! I found this neat website for booted bantams. Its www.shadyoakbantams.com . Check it out ,they have some awesome birds. Hope some is taking a camera to Poops. Those of us who can't go would love to see pics of who everyone is. Who do I contact to sned something for the raffel?

Hey everyone...long day at work and then home to drag brush up to the curb for spring clean up week and then out to eat with the fam...Mexican food! Back home to put a load of clothes in and then sit down and watch American Idol and now watching The Biggest Loser...all on DVR.

My little chicks are growing so fast and feathering out so much now that I've put them out in the chicken hutch in the coop...They love scratching around in the pine shavings and roosting on the bar. I just love them to death!

Tomorrow is day 18 with my hatch....I'm so nervous. I'm kind of worried cause I can't get my humidity up..I've got three little sponges and one full size sponge all soaked in the bator, plus the resevoirs have water in them too...and I can't get the humidity up past 30%...it's been running around 34% all this time and now it's sitting down around 29%....sigh. I even plugged up the other vent.

Plus I've got those duck eggs in there too that have to stay in an extra week and they will still need to be turned so I'll have to open the bator to turn them while the chicken eggs are on their last few days...sigh.

Any ideas or encouragement..I'd post this in another section, but I never seem to get *any* responses on the rest of the board.

Great news about Roger!! Now I hope you get to feeling better! Knowing that he will be okay, get some rest!

Not warm here yet! It was nicer today than yesterday, I am ready for warmth!!

Hiya Lynn! Just getting home from my WW meeting. I am tired, not staying up late tonight!

Ah Sonya, I know next to nothing in the first place but would it hurt to not turn the duck eggs? Otherwise you will never get your humidity up......Sorry I got nothing other than to hope your hatch goes well

I am just getting started on my shipped eggs, I really really want them to hatch out.

Great Henny!

Sonya - don't worry too much about the humidity. It will be okay...with the spnges and water and all...you are okay...I honestly never mess with the humidity.

Buckguy - Dang! I am gonna pass on those.

Lynn - around the house...stupid truck...had to change out a stupid window regulator stupis again...on the stupid bright side I am getting fast at it...but stupid truck seems to know it is paid for and ain't getting replaced...had it longer than the youngest boy...in fact I bought it cuz he was on the way...didn't forsee getting the four of us in a single cab pick-up...

Daschounds - pictures we don't allow no stinking pictures! Might get used against us in a court of senilality! How about a group pose or do you wanna wait on the calender...I still have dibs on march cuz its my birfday!

OK, another short list:

1) Henny, I wouldn't feed a bigmac to my ex-wife, much less a good dog.

2) BigOkie, sorry but I have to cancel my order for the geese. I have some new birds coming in from Alabama and there is no way I can be ready for the geese in time. Maybe later.

3) Grace, you're welcome. You're a classy lady (and I know a classy broad when I see one)

OK, that's all the good fingers I have so I'll sit back and start on a new list. Go back to whatever you were doing before.

so you are getting some birds from Alabama huh, do tell. building pens sounds like work LOL, I also have to get busy with a enlargement project to my coop/run's, but when to find the time?.

Yeah, but it's work that I enjoy. My wife isn't always so crazy about my ideas, but what do women know?

I've been thinking lately about branching out into some other breeds, but every time I get the urge, I think that it will require time the I could be using on the birds I already have.

But I'd really like to have some geese.

Good morning Okies!!! Rise and shine...

I'm going to admit I'm not the world's greatest mother....sigh...I hate getting kids up in the morning for school...no matter how early I make them go to bed, they are still grumpy in the morning...I guess they inherited my "gotta sleep in" gene.

I'm guessing my humidity testing part of my thermometer (hygrometer?) is given out on me...it's still reading 29% and I've done about all I can to try to raise it....it's like a sauna in there...no condensation, but still humid when I turned the eggs this morning. I'm gonna set the chicken eggs in the bottom of the carton at lunchtime today, turn the duck eggs and mist them and then leave everything alone for three days....I hope the ducks will be ok without being turned for a few days....once the chicks hatch, I'll turn the duck eggs again for a few more days until next wednesday when I'll stop turning them again so they can hatch....I'm so excited and already thinking of what to set to hatch next.

My daughter just checked weather bug and said it's supposed to be around 75 degrees today! Man, I wish I didn't have to work! I have 2 patients to see this morning and three to see this afternoon, plus a huge pile of paperwork to get through in between...

Hope everyone has a fabulous day today!

Sonya
