We made it home about three hours ago.
Had a great time and the turkeys are settled in for the night.
Carla, I put the babies in with my week old chickens and they eating and drinking good. The older ones same to be taking longer to eat and drink. Think I will move some chicks in with them.
My husband even enjoyed it and he said there was enough food for an army there. Half way home he said darn I should have made him a sandwich to eat on the road.
I drive to 69 and he took over so it took longer to get home.

Home from POOPS and we had a wonderful time. It was great to put names and faces with screen names. Not quite sure how we ended up with so many new birds, since I didn't go after that many, but I am delighted with those we got.

The fawn runner duck we already had keeps running over to the pen where we put the new fawn runners, and seems to be talking to them through the fence. It is really funny to watch.

The quail eggs and the two eggs people were kind enough to give our grandson will go into the incubator tomorrow.

Not sure why we now have some bantam chickens (oh yeah, the grandson wanted them

), but they will be something fun to play with.

We will definately need to do another get together like this again, soon.

Well we went to the Jones auction afterwards and bought some more hatching eggs.

Man I have not seen that much food in a long time!! And we met some of the most wonderful people there too. Thanks to all that put this together and I agree. POOPS just has to happen again!

We're staying another night, but are relaxing at the campsite next to a campfire. The girls having showered and I'm sure they feel a ton better. The quail and chicks we bought are settled in for the night in the truck...out of the wind and temps.

Funny story: Abby was looking at Carla's silkie chicks and I told her no, we didn't need a silkie chick. She picks it up and holds it up by her face and says, with her puppy dog eyes, "Pleeeeease, momma, can I have a silkie?" Man, I'm such a sucker. So we got a black silkie chick...and then Gabi wanted a chick of her own, so she looked around diligently for some chicks and found one that she wanted. I'm not even sure who she bought it off of, but she told me that they said they didn't know what kind it was but that it was one of birdluvs birds. It looks kind of like an EE, but it also looks like it has some barring on it, so who knows??? LOL.

At the end of the day, we were talking with slightly cracked and her rosecomb bantam hen had laid an egg...she handed it to Abby and told her to incubate it...LOL.

I don't know what I'm going to do about these way cool hatching eggs I won in the raffle. My incubator has 36 eggs in it, and I think there are only like 5 spots left in the turner...I"ve got a dozen Spitz eggs and that bantam egg and I don't want them to go bad and not be incubated. How long do hatching eggs last before they aren't any good to incubate anymore?? I have 2 weeks left on the batch in the bator now.

We had a GREAT time today!!! We will definitely come to the next gathering and I'll have stuff of my own to bring and sell or trade next time.

The get together was definately kid-friendly. Gerald allowed our grandson to hold a "different colored" poult, which of course then had to be purchased to come home with us. Come to think of it, that is how we also wound up with a silkie chick that was a different color than the rest of them.
