Well Okcarla I hope you do get to come, but if not I more than understand. I will be leaving early in the morning to take my roos up there so as they won't have to sit in the truck trying to out crow each other all day and causing mischift in the parking lot all day. wouldn't that be funny. And so they go through fairly early so if I get tired I can collect my dues and head on home, as I am trying not to buy too very much tomorrow, well maybe a few cages and a male goose to go with the gander I have.

Well hope to see you there I will be wearing a Lake Wister State Park Housekeeping t-shirt, so you know who to look for.
Mawchickkidie

Mawchickkidie, we will see you there! Gerald will wear a red flannel shirt & have his retired Air Force ballcap on, and I will have a gray t-shirt that says "We can do it".

Kaacres and Poultryandbees ... I got your pm's and a list of what you're looking for ... and we're ready to go! Well, we still have to go feed all the chickens first!

I slept over 12 hours last night after the migraine ... I'm READY NOW!

sounds great, I'll be there, I just went this morning and dropped off my roo's and guineas, boy were they a noisey bunch going down the road, I sounded like the chicken Police.

well call me if you get lost. I will see you there.

Grace, thanks for the birthday wises.

I'm glad you are satisified with the babysitting I did. *haha*

Carla, if I can remember, I would like to give you the phone number of the people who are wanting the Silkie rooster. They have been at the Cement auction every time, so I bet we could all meet at the next one.

Cammie, I'll just bring the black silkie chick with us when we go to the next Cement auction. I don't know if it's a roo though.

We just got back from the Monroe auction and met MawChickkidie ... nice meeting you Jessica! We liked the auction, except for too many goats & sheep & rabbits & ducks ... not enough poultry. We bought an interesting looking metal nest box though, a design we've never seen before. Other than that ... nothing we really wanted. We tried bidding on some bobwhite quail several times, but the auctioneer never seemed to be able to see us bidding. We really liked one thing at the auction ... bleachers along two walls of the barn. It really helped the viewing, and the auctioneer could see the bidders easier ... except for when we bid on bobwhite quail ... several times

That's OK ... I really don't want quail anyway ... some guy that Gerald works with wants quail eggs because he wants to pickle some .... yuck!

OK, so for the 4 Oklahoma auction locations we've been to, Cement is my favorite, followed by Harrah, then Blue, then Monroe. Monroe is just too far away for us. The more I think about the Blue auction ... the more I want to try going to that one again ... and bring a high power flashlight to see what's for sale! I've never seen so many eggs and chicks and chickens in one place ... and such low prices!

Okcarla it was nice to meet ya'll, and from the sounds of the blue auction I think I would like to try to make that one too! I do agree about the monroe there are too many goats, and there wasn't even as many this time as there was last time. And last time there was only a few rabbits and this time it seems like thats all there was. I guess it changes each time. Last time there was alot more poultry and eggs, and poultry supplies as where this time there wasn't but there was more chicks. I like to go to buy the cages, and brooders and lamps, last one I bought 16 brooder lamp for $10.00 FOR ALL OF THEM. at atwood and the co-op one lamp alone runs for $10.00. so I got a really good deal, but last night they started the all X's the money really early and you could afford anything. Or you'd end up with bunch of some you didn't want just to get the one you wanted. OH well, their still workin out the kinks I guess. I will try to make the blue auction this summer. Hope your girls like their fancy new nest box. Maw.

Maw, that'd be great if you could come to the Blue one, too

Carla, if you do want to come to the Blue auction, it is better to come in the summer when the days are the longest. That way, you can actually see!

Christie, that's wonderful your chicks are doing well

The Jersey Giants are definitely Gerald's favorite chicken .... big, calm, and great layers. How's the eggs? If I remember correctly, you said your son's class was going to try to hatch them? They can probably be candled now to see the blood veins.

Mawchickkidie & Grace, yes the Blue auction is a really great place to buy a big variety of poultry. I'm sure it does get better later in the year when there's more daylight. Gerald and I have decided we're bringing flashlights the next time we go so we can see better! I sure wanted to stay & see everything go through the auction ... but I bet it had to have lasted several hours after we left.

I sure need to sell some chicks soon .... I still have too many silkie, brabanter and spitzhauben chicks, and I think I'll sell my white bantam chicks that I got from my feed store. And I have 4 baby call ducklings to sell now! My broody silkies hatched some ... actually, we took them away from the silkies several days before hatching, because the last time when the ducklings were due to hatch ... it wasn't pretty.

Before I post them on the Buy/Sell area, does anyone locally want some buff laced polish hatching eggs? I was going to ask $25 for a dozen+ shipped.
Pick up I'd take $15. I've had pretty good hatch rate when the incubator (that is getting returned to it's owner) worked. I bought a forced air, and have done better.
Here's a couple that we hatched and the parents:

PM Me if interested. I will have enough on Wednesday. I have enough now, but would rather ship fresher eggs,a nd incubate these myself. I'm just out of bator space since I'm returning one.
