I have got a lighter one or two but that was when they first started laying, but the rest are turning out pretty dark. I have noticed that every egg is getting darker and darker, then the hen will lay a lighter a really red speckled egg. Then they will get darker and darker. So I would say they have a color cycle. If you new ones lay light at first don't be disappointed, just wait till they get on a good laying schedule and their eggs should darken up. Fingers crossed here for you.
Oh by the way, Carla, my husband and I just love your pen set up. We are going to try and fashion ours off yours. Thanks for posting the pics.
