We really aren't that far from Jones, I will miss the poultry auction there.
Hubby came by on his way home from the 11yr old grandson's baseball tournament in Edmond and took the 10 bags of shavings home with him. They barely fit into the trunk and the back seat of the car.

Chiclooker and Oldmotherhen helped me load the cages into the van. The pet carrier that arrived in Jones with chickens, went home inside the dog crate that transported the chocolate tom. The crate that transported the turkey hen to Jones went home with hatching eggs, and some beekeeper stuff that was already in the van, inside of the crate. The rabbit went home in a small pet carrier that took a rooster to Jones and all the cages were stacked liked puzzle pieces in the back of the van on top of the crates and in the middle seat. I actually could have taken at least 5 bags of the shavings home in the van, since there was still room in the middle seat and the front seat.

I love the challenge of packing the van when I go to an auction.

Somebody is going to fill their incubator up soon, huh?

Congratulations on your packing job. I sure hope everyone else makes it home OK with all their winnings.

Chiclooker's truck was full, but all their treasures were inside the truck bed. They were loaded and then helped me load.

We talked to the seller of the white plastic crates and learned that more are available - plus he will deliver them to the Blanchard auction. I also got to meet the auctioneer at Blanchard, while standing in line to pay out and got a card with the information about their auction. Hopefully, we will be in town so I can make the Blanchard auction on May 23.

It was wonderful to talk to everyone this evening and see all the POOPS T-shirts. Luvs2garden was patting herself on the back because she was going home without buying anything.

Some of the cages that I paid only $1 - 4 for are going to come in handy for those times I want to send someone home with birds and don't want to have to worry about getting my cage back anytime soon.

If I worked the graveyard shift like ya'll do, I would never feel like I had enough sleep. I need a nap on the weekend in order to recharge my battery, even though I have the opportunity to sleep while it is dark.

That is in the ball park of what I was wanting to spend on a bator, is there any certain place that I should order from????

I purchased both of my hovabators on Ebay. I bought on with turner and fan and the other is a still air that I use to hatch and day old brood. I think I only paid $155 that was with shipping and handling for the bator with turner and fan. The still air I believe I got it for $70 including shipping. Both were brand new.
Little tip for everyone using a foam incubator. Paint the inside (and outside if you want) with a non-toxic acrylic paint and sealer. this protects the foam from harboring bacteria and the occasional stinky egg pop.

Both of mine are painted pretty psycidellic colors so my babies are born into a colorful world.

It also strengthens the foam as well. Also add handles helps with accessing easier.

I am hoping to go but it depends on what time of day it is. I am teaching summer school this year but we are usually finished by 11 am. I will call Monday and find out. It would be nice to get my NPIP. Yes?

I enjoyed talking to every one at Jones this evening and I really wanted to stick around and watch PnB load out that van but we had to make a stop on the way home. Yep Lowes to pick up supplies to build a couple of more grow-out pens.

Night everyone, tomorrow is a new, and busy, day.

I guess that I sleep rather hard also!! Either that or my body says sleep harder there is nothing you can do while it is raining!!! The last storm we got a couple of days ago wrapped out kids trampoline around the light pole right outside out window and I slept right through it!!!

LOL, that would be me. If I am awake and something is happening, I am too nervous to go to sleep but once I am asleep I won't hear anything.

Just got back from town. It wasn't raining here but as I am driving in you can see the clear line where it had been in town! sprinkled on me while I was there but doesn't seem like we got anything here. I am southeast of town.

yeah i was sound asleep and kabang! the whole place shook... i love rain and thunder, but that was something else

how do you keep them safe from attack? everything i've read recomends almost fort knox...i know we have all sorts of stuff wandering out there at nite...

I have chicken wire and at the bottom I have about 3 to 4 inches that layed out or in on the ground depending on the pen. Most of mine have landscape timber or railroad ties around them. I have never had anything get in the pen other than if I forget to close the gate. Except snakes, but there isn't much you can do about those other than kill them and that is my favorit thing to do with them anyways. I can always tell when I have one, the hens don't want to go into the hen house and will try to roost in the pen.

Painting the inside is an excellent idea. I have tried scrubbing the inside with a brush and chlorox water, but there is always something that has become part of the foam. Of course, since they ARE foam, I haven't found a way to submerse it without putting on such a heavy weight that it would crush or break the foam.

Thank you for this great suggestion!
