THANKS MONTY!

YES, our intention is to go to both. I think we're going to drop some birds off at Blanchard, then go to Jones to check it out, and then finish up at the Blanchard auction. We need to downsize on the tom turkeys, and have chicks & young birds we need move, since we can't seem to stop putting eggs in the incubator every week.

Gerald already wants to put a Jersey Giant roo with a naked neck hen to see what the chicks look like. I guess I don't know what a Madagascar is. I'll have to look them up when I have more time ... when I'm at work this evening!

Oh, by the way, if anyone knows of a deal on a trailer or portable building that could be used as a hatchery/brooder building, we are definitely needing to buy one. The birds MUST GO from the bedroom & livingroom! I have to clean this house up before my grandbaby arrives in April or my daughter won't bring it over for me to babysit.

DutchChic is a really nice, awesome lady that Gerald and I had the pleasure of meeting last week. I'm sure she has some great hens for you.

Carla,

I wish we had met Monday night too. I always enjoy making new friends. (It's keeping them that I have a problem with.)

What kind of eggs are you putting into the incubator this late?

Carla- are you planning on bring a tom or 2 to Blanchard? What breed of goats are you wanting are you wanting them for meat or for milk? My sugar should be breed this month and Olivia by the end of the year hopefully. I have nubians.

I will take the roo if you still have him. LOL Like I need antoehr roo but I dont have one of him. Just got back from Claremore, got a bator, not one but 2 well one I got in Wellston. Gosh I am tired.............. NO I am not out of the chicken business, actually I am more into it now. NOTHING can stop me now. I got it worked out. TTYL

It's really cool to meet folks from your own home state that have the same interests!

I had to run real fast so only posted a quick reply, YES she did add to my addiction, I was NOT going to have chicks over the winter, I think now I can have about 420 in the bator's. OMG what have I got into. It was good to meet you, Hope to meet more tomorrow night...................Hmmmmmmmm I have a "date" to go dancing or auction???????? LOL...she has a couple of sofa pillows I want, and I have a couple of Polish hens she wants....so we are resorting to the old system of "bartering".

I haven't convinced Gerald that we should stop hatching chicks yet

We have Cuckoo Marans, Easter Egger (mixed Ameraucana colors), Egyptian Fayoumi, Buff Orpington, Apenzeller Spitzhauben, Jersey Giant, Silkie, Turken, Brabanter and Araucana hens laying now. I put an ad on the Buy~Sell~Trade Hatching Eggs link earlier today. I just hate to sell them for eating when they make such beautiful chicks. We really must stop hatching though, unless we get them out of the house into a shed or trailer. We sort of went overboard on aquiring chickens this year.

Yes, we definitely will bring a couple of toms with us to the auction. Are you looking for anything specific? We'll probably take a Narragansett and a Bourbon Red or maybe a Royal Palm or a Blue Slate. We also have a Bronze that I think is a hen that we should bring. We decided 4 breeds were enough on the turkeys.

Hmmmm .... I still know little to nothing about goats. I'm thinking a nubian milk goat would probably be good just in case times get tough and we have to resort to living on the land. Actually, a friendly, pet goat would be nice. The more I think about it - I doubt if I'd ever have time to milk a goat, at least not until I can retire & stay home full time.

Carla,

$1 each? Put me down for a dozen Egyptian Fayoumi and a dozen Spitzhauben. I doubt that I'll make it to Blanchard tomorrow, but maybe I can meet you in Tuttle when you have them collected.
