I agree that the store bought axe is not very sharp at all, but I have found that if your hand is close to the neck you might get a little gun shy, and not get a good swing. a sharp chopping tool and some practice and you will be a pro in no time. practice on some small branches, and make a brace on the block for the birds heads so you don't have to hold it down this will improve your chopping swing and confidence. good luck

A cold one also a big help hehe

I'm just guessing, but maybe it's because you just can't eat a chicken that nice all at once.

hehe...funny...very funny! lol

ChicknGurl, I was keeping him alive for experiments with the UofA. His genetic line has diabetes for some odd reason.

He HAD legs....no feet though. He was such a sweetie too...loved that little guy.

I sent you a PM on the turkeys...these aren't mine so I don't wanna make any promises or anything like that...a friend appraoched me last night and we went scrambling for cages to haul them...I have not seen them...I am getting a lame one for dinner!

OK I am still not sure about the show. The anniversary dinner we will enjoy tonight. Since my knee is messed up and I can't stand on it for an hour I think the Chrsistmas Choir pageant and subsequent practices are out of the question. Shopping I have all next week to do that plus we will have some real Christmas weather for it. ( LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW SNOW! BAH !)
I can make the show and the wedding so I am good there. I have my sons basketball game at 2 p.m. that is a slight problem but I can't miss it.
The only other thing is my dw's logic that "If you can't stand up to sing in the choir at church, how are you gonna walk around a chicken show all day? Good question. Now I am rethinking Cammie's wheelchair idea.

I was planning on taking a sign that says "OKIES IN THE BYC" and have everyone meet by it. Since I am not sure yet if I will make it, does anyone else want to carry the torch and take a sign.
Last year several of us met there but later we found out there were several more Okie BYC'ers there that we didn't meet.
I would hope that this year we could get every BYC'er there introduced to one another.

Any volunteer sign makers out there?

I HOPE to see you all there!!!!

Stimp - hahaha, good one!

Mika - very cool, never heard of a chicken having diabetes.

Hope he was able to help you get some great data!

He did...unfortunately...he died about a month after my mom did. I just couldn't do it anymore.

I've still got the line, so with enough eggs I'm sure we could have another one...but why? LOL

My professor wanted to get all of my birds so she could perpetuate the genetics, like the Smyth Line birds she has.

Y'all going to Shawnee make me jealous. I wanted to go all year. Just too much holiday krapp to do. Hopefully the weather holds off till y'all are safely home with your new chickies...Al are you going? I ordered a Carhartt suit 3 days ago. I guess it should get here about... JUNE! HAHAHA!

Mikarod...you BB gun totin' woman! At least your not Lizzie Borden (HennyPennies took an ax and gave her chicken 40 whacks....) HAHAH! Hey on that one it's laugh or cry. I felt terrible all night... finally had a good boo-hoo and sleep and felt better this am... But that was a really bad experience for me... I'm such a wuss.... I'm wondering if I have it in me to mange a flock... I seem to do everyhting bassackwards.

Al..,I miss ya, ya big lug! Did ya get my e-card? Did ya go to Cement? I want to take these 2 banty roos somewhere to get rid of them... They are too cute to whack...someone needs to love on them. The red pyle is a pretty good roo, actually. He rounds up hens, was teaching my teeny boppers how to build a nest yesterday... that was cool to watch. And screams a watch out for hawks. He is a keeper for sure.

I was looking forward to getting to meet you guys. I have my chillin peeps T-Shirt set aside and everything. Hope you all have fun!!!

Henny, so sad that you can't make it. We still haven't met!

Monty, I have some stuff left over from the kidney stone days that will get you through anything! You could stand on that knee just fine. But no running!

Hope you get to make it!

Has anyone picked a time yet??? Last year I just got lucky, ran into one person, others happened to show up, and then Grace saved me and introduced me to everyone else.

I will most likely be wearing a light gray shirt that says 'Chickasha Pom' on the front in purple letters. I only justify wearing it because it says 'Molly's Big Sister' on the back. *ha* I will be driving to Shawnee, back to Chickasha, then to OCU in OKC to watch my sister. Lots of car time tomorrow!

Everyone be careful driving!
